Google search box

I have a question about Google search boxes. To make a long story short, I want to offer people links to certain sites through Google search. I see how you can put in the sites you want the searchers to find in the widget, but I do not understand how you can get the sites to show in the search.

Will putting in the keywords in the widget do the trick? If they do not have some guidance, they will just get an empty search.
