How does one go about finding private blog networks? What are red flags one should look out for when evaluating before joining?

They have a bunch of blog networks for sell.

I also use buildmyrank but does require some work.

What are some benefits and drawbacks to being in a private blog network as compared to just submitting your article to article directories with AMR? One benefit I see is that in a private blog network, your article can appear on a high PR homepage, resulting in a high PR backlink. The drawback of that, however, is that those articles will eventually drop off the home page, and you'll lose the high PR link. So what you end up with is a backlink on a PR 0 or n/a internal page, which is the same thing as submitting your site to article directories. Therefore, it doesn't seem worth it to me. But someone please correct me if I'm wrong, because I don't have too much experience with private blog networks.
