Backlinks

Hey guys & gals i just wanted to clarify a few things with backlinks,

if a website on first spot of google has 642 backlinks and there broke down like this

pr 4 = 3
pr 3 = 40
pr 2 = 39
pr 1 = 41
pr 0 = 44
pr n/a 475


If i got the following backlinks and my onpage seo was perfect would i get first spot eventually? is this how backlinks work?

pr 5 =2
pr 4 = 10

My site has a about 10 pages of content and is optimsed to the hilt everything you can think of has been done, just building high pr backlinks at the moment to try and outrank top spot,

but il make sure i continue building links untili reach number one spot,

I agreed on the point that in terms of backlinks quality links(high PR) as well as quantity links both are important.

I would agree with precious007. You gotta have good high quality content these days as well as backlinks but don't go overboard just create a few high quality links with sites that are in a relevant niche and you will start to see the benefits.

I always think of backlinking as building relationships with other site owners. If you can get the attention of someone who is running an authority site in your niche and get a guest blog post the traffic you will see from this will be awesome.
