Default Squidoo banned topics

Can anyone explain why there are lenses out there on Squidoo banned topics?

For example, a lot of "get your ex back" lenses are still existent there, but this topic is within their banned topics list.

So what is their policy regarding finding a lens to be "appropriate" for any particular topic?

Does that mean they don't check every lens after they are published?

Probably, but why spend the time building a page that you are at risk losing at any time?

Squidoo's "policy" is

"We are allowed to make money with YOUR content and our ads - but you are not allowed to make money." (Also called "hypocrisy")

This is their policy.

A lot of lenses are just forgotten about until something is changed or updated and then it triggers the filters and gets banned... or at least that is what happened to me a while back.

I had one advertising Wealthy Affiliate aaaggggeees ago and just happened to bump into it again after forgetting all about it, thought I would change a link to a different site and BAM - it's banned! lol!

Didn't bother me as it was something I forgot I even had but could be a problem if it was an earner.... so not sure if it still applies the same but if something is still there against all odds then probably best to leave it be if you want it to stay!

They came up with the banned topics after a lot of these lenses were already live. They didn't go back and retroactively delete all of those lenses which now would break the rules.

And that about sums it up...

I had a lens about "Getting my ex back" long ago and Squidoo locked it and I needed to delete it. There are some lenses on Squidoo which are on SquiDon't list, but will get locked soon. SquidAngels and other lensmasters can report this kind of lenses to HQ and they will react. It's better to stick with the rules to keep an account there.
