Hope someone may be able to help on this - do numbers in domain names affect their SEO chances? e.g. 121xxxxxxx.com? Finding arguments for and against but no definite answer. |

That's because there is no definitive answer. My opinion is that it looks spammy and is unnecessary. I would just find something without numbers. Makes everything easier. |

Hi christinaj I am in agreement with 36burrows. If you go to your keyword research tool of choice and enter in the numbers of your liking, what do you see for monthly Global and Local search results for that term? The data will answer your question rather quickly, I would imagine. Newbie Japan |

If you are advertising an offline business that has a set address, I can imagine that it would be beneficial for SEO purposes in a local niche, for example, say the name of a restaurant you have is "Mike's on 5th", you could use mikeson5th.com. Otherwise, it does not make sense unless the name of your company has a number in it. Chances are that you are either marketing affiliate products or programs. I would include your keywords in the domain name wherever possible. That usually has the most impact on ranking your site and also gives people seeing your indexed result an idea of what it is that you are promoting so your traffic will be more targeted. |

If you are planning to build a brand on your own with a number included, then that won't be a problem. Just make sure that on your on-page optimization and on your contents you put your target keyword and emphasize it along with the brand name you are building.

I think some numbers can be useful for branding purposes and can help you get a domain that contains a valuable keyword that will help in SEO. Examples: MakeMoneyOnline101.com , 1shoppingcart.com But I wouldn't just throw in random numbers, because that could hurt your branding (make your site seem spammy) |

Thanks for the response guys, it's for a client site, the existing on & offline brand is 121XXX The site isn't for affiliate marketing etc. but the client was worried the current domain name was hurting SEO. |
