Default Blog Networks & Their Linking Policies

Is it common that when you are no longer a subscriber of the service all your links get removed?

I don't want to waste my time ranking sites with links that will disappear at the drop of a hat.

Well, considering you are paying someone else to do the work for you, you are not really wasting time ranking sites... but yes, if it is a network that provides homepage backlinks, they probably will remove the backlinks once you stop paying.

They generally are not permanent backlinks. They are more like renting space on a billboard.

I can't speak for the article networks. I would imagine most of those don't take the time to go through all their sites and remove an article. Those are probably more permanent, but they are also just PR n/a or PR 0 backlinks usually.

Ask yourself this though, if you rank a website that earns $xx,xxx a month as a result of a $xxx/mo link network charge, is it worth it? Absolutely!

Chances are that if you getting blog network links they will stay in tact, the problem is though that blog network links aren't nearly as effective as homepage links since the posts tend to drop off the homepages in a matter of minutes, if not hours.

As Mike mentioned, its like buying billboard advertisements. Once you stop paying, they go away. Why? Because typically they are that effective. Its the same reason that if you were to stop using TextLinkAds, Linkworth, etc, that once you stop paying your links go away.

Yep - its the same reason that PR8's-PR9's sell backlinks for $xx,xxx-x,xxx/mo. and that people actually buy them.

To some companies its well worth the costs since those links will push their rankings across their website up significantly.
