Default Picking the right domain name

Hey guys,
I'm currently looking at purchasing 1 domain name. Let's take for EXAMPLE the keyword "best shoes"
Of course bestshoes.com is taken, BUT bestshoesfree.com is open.
Is it better to put the "free" in front, for example freebestshoes.com or at the end, or it doesn't matter?

I'm looking to promote a CPA offer on the domain.

I would take the .net if it was available.
If it was a really good term maybe even a .org or .info on exact match.

Failing that I would put the addon word at the end, so start your domain with the words you really want.

Also, I would always go with:

bestshoesfree.com as opposed to best-shoes.com, I found additive words easier to work with than hyphens, though it really depends on what that word is!

Well the .com .net .info .org .info are all taken, even though they don't have websites on them.
Also, available EXAMPLE: buybestshoes.com (which I can turn into affiliate / reviews website)

I hope this is real example. Reveling your ideas here is not very smart

I would not put free on there unless you want to attract lookiloos wanting freebies

I would put buybestshoes.com or bestshoesreviewer.com or something that indicates a possible buyer crowd coming in

That would be far better rather than putting a word "free". Unless you are giving out "free" best shoes, putting it before or after your chosen domain is totally not a good idea after all.

Hey TolyZ,

As for the domain name, I always say that you should worry about your brand more than SEO in that regard. There are plenty of reasons, some of which are mentioned in the first link I provided in the resources box.

More specifically, the 'i' can change the way Google sees a domain, but they are pretty good about stuff like that, especially something so common as placing an 'i' in front of a word. If in doubt though, you can always add a hyphen.

The way you are suggesting titles is appropriate, and even given the "OK" by Google themselves (check the second link in the resource box) but we usually try to stick to grammatically correct, short sentences. Though most of our research in that regard is anecdotal, it does seem to produce higher conversions.

Taking your title for example;
ibranding manager | online branding efforts | PR & Marketing Expert

This is just fine, but we would make it something like:

iBranding Manager - Online Branding and Marketing Solution*

(* or something like that. It depends on the keyword focus, target audience, etc.)

Whether you place the brand at the front, end or at all is up to you. It really depends on your overall strategy. Do you have other marketing efforts on which you will be pushing your brand? If so, you may want to place it in the title.

We try to place the brand at the front on the home page, and at the back of other pages. Again, this depends on your overall strategy so you may find it better to do something a little different.
