I'm not a huge fan of blasting away at thousands of blogs because, as a blog owner myself, I know how annoying it is. But that said, most of the auto approve, Scrapebox compatible blogs have long been abandoned anyway.

Typically no, its a waste of time and energy. Why? Most comments can be easily identified, so why should Google pass credit along to those types of links? Second, there are so many garbage spammers out there that they ruin any quality backlinks in the long run. If you are using blog comments as your backlink solution in 2011, you should recheck your strategy. |

Based on my experience, YES. They help. It is not easy though. Most are nofollow. Plus, there is a chance of your comment getting rejected.

Yes and I like doing it. It's probably my #1 favorite form of building backlinks. I spend 30 minutes to 2 hours a day doing it right now for some testing purposes. I enjoy reading and then joining in on the discussion. It's slow going, but if you get in the mindset of having fun and coming up with valuable comments, it's an easy-going, laid back way to spend a part of each day. Think of it this way - you can write guest posts (which I also do), but you'll spend much more time on a guest post than a comment. Yet, a comment provides some decent linkjuice (arguably not as good as a guest post on an authoritative website, but good nevertheless). Blog commenting is something to work at consistently - a few every day instead and over the course of a few months your sites will have some good links. |

Blog commenting can be useful indeed. Considering that you have a mixed of backlinks in place that can show your backlinks are organic, then high PR Page, Do-Follow, right anchor text, Relevant blog comments are some of the best backlinks you can get although they are hard to be obtained. Also think about it this way: setting aside blog comments, there are not that many ways to get high PR page backlinks (not talking about domains) so definitely useful.

I have not used ScrapeBox YET but as far as I know if works pretty well, in fact some of our competitors have ranked high in very competitive keywords using that as their only main strategy. What is important is to be selective about commenting and by that I mean don't go for blasts instead find few good blogs (high-PR page, do-follow, low OBL, ...blogs) using ScrapeBox and then comment with right anchor text. And also use that as a part of a mix of backlinks in your backlinking strategy and on a continuous basis. That way it is highly effective as of my knowledge. Quote:

| Untrue. I think that blog comments are going to be devalued near zero. To predict the time frame? Oh that's harder, I am positive the guys at Google are trying to think of a way to sort 99% of comments out from the 1% of "normal commenting" and write an algo for that. The sheer volume of scrapebox and other tools that are inundating the entire blogsphere has to be dealt with. Very soon it will be worthless. WJ |

Blog commenting is still useful as long as you've commented to high pr sites in a relevant niche. Make sure your comments are deserving to get approved.

I think you're dead wrong. Comments can be easily identified? Great. Because most often people will read a good article and link to another related article that they want to share with the community. That's what Google is looking for. Vote links. And comments are a great media (a social media) for those kind of links. So, I don't see why Google should 'identify' comment links and disregard them. That's just stupid. Secondly, if you place a good comment on a high quality web page with an owner that actually cares about his site, you dont need to worry about 'garbage spammers' anyway. Thirdly... oh yeah, maybe contextual links on homepage would work far better? *wink, signature*

| As you know that through blogs one can provide the whole definition on particular word or topic or anything. And as results which google show ,contains the blog results also. And as people always looking to get the complete information and which they get by blog. And this way blog page searched more by people and people spend more time with that page. And such pages that be find many times by user , get the high value and due to usefulness of the page , it fast indexed by the google. And with the blog page , comment also related and by this reason blog comments indexed faster and show the quick effective result.

If the blog comment is useful to users, it should be useful to your SEO and you will get more traffic. I have heard that what the users love is what the search engine love. Am i right? Maybe some experts can give you wise suggestion.

Yes blog commenting is one way of increasing backlinks for your site. But due to spammers most of the blog comments are not approved or approved with nofollow backlinks. This backlink will not be counted in Google. But it helps in increasing the ranking of the keyword to some extend. Also one must be genuine in posting comments, since this is the place where people interact. |

Personally, I have started this to gain exposure to new blogs by making comments on popular blog posts. As far as SEO is concerned, most of the sites which fall in my niche have no-followed anchor text link so I use my real name. But there is a benefit on commenting on blogs who have Top Commentators widget on Sidebar which is Do-Follow in most of the cases. So, Right from start of the month, try targeting such blogs and to be on #1 and along with exposure you gain link juice too from all blog posts and pages of that domain |

All methods are effective, including profile blast, but you need to focus on the most effetive methods to win your competiors. personly i don't sugget you go blog spam. I did extensive test, it might bring some link juice at the beginning, but later google will sense it, you eighter be slapped or out ranked by your competitor easily |

Getting traffic from blog comments is a myth. Seriously. Would YOU click on keyworded links dropped by blog commenters? I didn't think so either.

Its useful if you comment on authority blogs. Most blogs are not ranking high and they are not helpful in my opinion.

Blog commenting is definitely effective, if the blog is regularly indexed and live and comments should be relevant only and related to your website industry.

Both the no-follow and do-follow blog comments is always important for the backlinks. It makes the backlinks natural in front of search engines. And a quality comment is always beneficial as the user may visit the links provided in the signature.

I'm leaving a comment on a pr3 blog right now. Don't get me wrong I don't normally do this, I have outsourcers for these types of jobs. I was running a backlink analysis of one of my old sites and noticed a pr 3 blog comment with no other OBL. Yes, pr 3 with only my link on it. So while looking through I'm just gonna drop another commment with 2 links in it to other sites. Easy. Not the best use of my time however if you get the chance of course leave a good comment. Make it long, 150 words or so and topical, it will prety much always stick. Do Follow and No Follow you want them both. Blog commenting is great for variation and also to back up other links you have. Throw it into the mix if you have the time or dollars |

It depends on the page you are linking to. I've found if I link to a blatant affiliate site page, then my Blog comment usually gets deleted. Even if my comment is not spam but a thoughtful comment based on the topic being discussed. Often the Blog owner seems to check where your link is going, if it's an affiliate site, the link gets deleted.
