I am considering creating a local business directory (sort of) and was thinking if it's possible to rank well on Google for their related keywords. Here is an example. Say I have a generic domain xxxxx.com and I want to rank the keywords "golf coach in singapore" and another keyword "fengshui master KL". Can I still rank well for both search terms? Note that I understand all the fundamentals of SEO and I do do quality backlinks to both pages, will I be able to rank well or do I need to purchase EMD for each search term? |

I think it's possible to rank well for a site like this. I'd recommend focusing on 3 basic things to start: -Write quality content on your sites and blogs that you update on a regular basis. -Create quality backlinks. -Use good keywords and keyword phrases in your content. |

Yes, it's definitely possible to rank well for all of these keywords. It will take a lot of work though as you will have to work for each individual keyword. Let's say your business directory was called BDirectory.com.... If one of the pages of your directory was for golf coaches in Singapore, your page title and url would then be -- BDirectory.com/golf-coaches-in-singapore ---then you would backlink to this page to promote the keyword "golf coaches in singapore. If another page was "fengshui master KL"...it would be another page and you would backlink to that one to promote the keyword "fengshui master KL". and etc... etc. Theres no need to purchase separate EMDs for each keyword. |

Thanks for the advices. I will create a website and start my first listing and try to rank that keyword and maybe do a little reporting on it.

I think you could use the same domain but with different page for the different main keywords you want to rank.I think it is okay to rank them separately and write the different blog content to rank the keywords and do artciles submission for the keywords.
