Default Did I really just get a 100 backlinks from one blog comment?!

Hi folks, looking at another thread, I guess not:

Although, I did just one comment and not multiple comments. Also, when I've done blog commenting before, it's never resulted in me getting multiple backlinks from the one comment. This recent event seems quite similar to the site wide type links.

So here i was getting a bit frustrated at not having the funds right now to support my SEO efforts, so I thought ok, I'll go and do some manual blog commenting to build a few backlinks. I've done this a little bit before but found it too time consuming and maybe not worth much the effort.

A few days back, I wrote a comment on an authority site with a pr5. When I checked a couple of days later on YSE, it suddenly showed about 60 total backlinks from when it was just sitting around 25 backlinks, the 40 or so backlinks coming from this site that I had commented on. And has of now, this has increased to 110 backlinks from just this one site.

A good majority of these backlinks are also showing as between pr2-pr4. Therefore, do I actually gain any benefit here, the fact that YSE is showing these as separate backlinks, do these count as one individual backlink? (as in getting the benefit of 110 backlinks)

It would be really cool if I did actually get a big boost in quality backlinks. I'm not getting too excited here as I expect I may not have gained anything apart from the original backlink. Would any of the SEO experts in here care to enlighten me and what are the thoughts of other fellow warriors, cheers.

I've had over 1000 backlinks before from one blog comment. I think it does provide more juice than just one backlink from a comment, but it doesn't provide as much juice as that many backlinks from seperate domains/sources.

Also, these backlinks you get from one comment don't tend to stick. Many appear, but then a week or 2 later they go.

As far as I know, pages that are in the Google's index that are pointing to your site will be counted as separate backlinks. But, most of the SEO responders in forums were saying that backlinks are counted per unique IP by google. If this is true, then getting 10 backlinks from a single site will only equal to 1, as they appear in a single source.

If from one site various posts consider as 1 backlink then the existence of content publication in various article sites also have no meaning. So logically it not support.

that site you commented on probably had the recent comments widget or something like that. your comment appeared on other pages... dont get your hopes up .. they will be gone soon.

Sometimes on blogs there is a "recent comment" list on the sidebar.

When you leave a comment your backlink will appear on the sidebar thus on every page of the site.

Once your recent comment has fallen off the page, your backlinks will go away with it. Unless you remember to add a new comment everytime you're about to fall off the sidebar.

Lol, no I don't tend to get my hopes up anymore, though it was kinda unexpected. So far, they've only increased, will be sad to see them go as you guys anticipate they will, I'll monitor to see what happens.

No doubt the links will fade away over time, as new comments appear above you in the sidebar.

Most only hold the last 10 or so comments/backlinks.

I stay away from sites like that, & target links that will stick.

Hehe I once got about 1k backlinks due to a similar recent comments widget. Thought I had struck gold. Sadly, not the case.

All the pages of one domain have their own PR. For example if there is a website of 50 pages whose index page is of PR6, the PR of rest 49 pages will be different. It may be PR0 to PR6. So in my opinion, if all the pages have their different individual PR than the links of a single website placed on all the 50 pages will be counted as different 50 links. Hope that the point will be clear.

Yep, will count as different pr from the individual pages. Unfortunately, these will fade due to the recent comments widget as rightly pointed out by some of the warriors. Just goes to show, so many things to look out for when conducting your SEO campaign.
