Through the years I have found that promoting affiliate links is not the best idea for internet marketing strategy. i found that creating my own webpages to promote me are better than promoting someone else. Can anyone else relate to this?

Its always better in the long term to promote yourself but you can promote others to just do it from your website that way if the offer dies or changes you can change it on your end and dont have wasted time

There's nothing wrong with promoting affiliate links, especially when you're just starting out and what type of niche you're in. Of course making your own products is better, but you can still make a living promoting affiliate products. |

Why not do both? Amazon creates it's own products, sell's from it's own inventory and sells the inventory of others. All the big IM gurus create their own products and also sell affiliate offers. Why on earth would you cut yourself off from legitimate money making opportunities? |

Liamp, I do agree...both should be done. I believe that if an affiliate site is promoted, the best way that I have found to do this is to promote yourself on your own personal site and add a sign up form for lead capture. When you have built a large enough list and create a nice set autoresponder letters, then add your affiliate link to those emails. This is what I have done in the past and it works! Especially when the emails are sent out to your leads AFTER you have contacted them via phone. I do believe that affiliate links should never be promoted directly. Use them in combination with promoting yourself. |
