Default Best Way to Add Content to Site?

Howdy

Lets say I have a site on cat food, and I want to really rank for the term Organic Cat Food.

So I add a page written around organic cat food, and get it ranking decently with some backlinks.

Now, lets say I want to add more content to my site to 1.) make the site fresh 2.) get some long tail traffic.

So I write another article on Organic Cat Food. Where do I put this article?

I'd think that i'd put it up on the site and have it send its PR juice to the original article, right?

Maybe make the PAges of a WP blog be the foundation of the site, and then the posts be the updated content that links to the pages?

Is that the best move?

Just publish the articles as posts and don't ever optimise every article
