Hi, quick (and tough) question. What number of exact local searches (google keyword tool) would be a good one? For example, I have seen an exact 6000 monthly local searches for a keyword, with a domain available (a .net). Is 6000 any good? What number of exact monthly local searches is the minimum I should aim? |

If you have exact match with 6k search volume, let's say you promote a product with $10 profit and the conversion is 1% of the search volume, then it'll be like $600/m income.. If you think that's good, then go for it. That's my opinion |

That's not very accurate, because even if I was in first position in google, I would not get 6000 visitors, maybe 75%. Anyway, anybody has recommendations on minimum amount of monthly exact searches? |

By the way, I am thinking about monetizing with adsense, and sprinkling a couple amazon links. But can't know if I have struck gold, if I don't aim at a minimum searches exact per motnh :S

6000 Exact match is a great number to work with on an Adsense site. You are not going to be only targeting the one phrase, but should be aiming at a variety of associated phrases on other pages and posts. If the competition and click value looked promising I'd buy the domain name in a heartbeat. |

![]() It's not complicated! Pick multiple keywords (one per page). Pick a keyword, assume you'll get 1% of the traffic, aim higher long term. Nobody can tell you what to pick, that's your job. Ask yourself how much traffic do you need, aim higher.

The number of searches is often irrelevant. What is important: - The value of each buyer / customer from the search. - Your ability to rank. - Conversions. - The number of related keywords you will also rank for by targeting a certain other keyword. Naturally, everything being equal, the more searches the better. But it is a major mistake to only look at search counts. . |

Can you compete with your chosen keyword(s)? Look at who your competition is for page one. Keyword research is vital, as is keyword competition research, and intuition plays a part also.

Hard to say exactly how many searches you should be targeting. Opinions will vary wildly, as will your results. A keyword is getting 3000 "exact match" searches may not perform any better than a BUYER keyword with 500 searches. |

Make sure to check that there are RELEVANT ads that a user who searches for your main term would click on if they saw that ad. Head over to EzineArticles and type in your keyword phrase and click on an article. Are the ads on the top and sidebar relevant to your visitor's query? Also make sure to check the strength of the competition for the Top 3 or you might be setting yourself up for failure. Good luck! Vic |

Thank you, I was almost going to buy the domain, but I see that first I should really investigate some more... How can I recognize buying keywords? |

It all depends on the competition for me, but as a ballpark figure, i would say 3000 or 4000 searches. However, i would go down to 1000 for a really uncompetitive buyer keyword, and I'll go up to 6000 if i can see other sites like the ones I build ranking with not much work. Hope that helps |

Everything helps, thank you. For a newbie, it's really hard to keep everything in mind, I see people telling that they maybe do keyword research for a week before deciding, but I always thinkI have everything figured out after an hour.... :S |

It's all relative, depending on your target market, monetization method, etc. There is no 'ideal number of searches'.

You want to make sure that your exact keyword phrase triggers relevant advertisements on the content network that somebody who's searching for that keyword would be likely to click on. Go to EzineArticles and type in your exact keyword and click on an article that has your exact keyword in the title. Check out the ads above the article and in the sidebar (there are a few more in the lower left hand corner of the page). Are they relevant? Would you click on them if you were searching for you term and saw of one them? So it's not "buying" keywords that you're looking for, it's "problem" keywords that have "answer" advertisements. Hope that makes sense! Vic

Keep this in mind, you have to do to get your website optimized for search engines is to choose one of the words or phrases that best match the content of your page.

| Is this word competitive? If not, that is to say it is easier to get ranked on 1st page even on top one and you may then get higher profits on this volume. If it is, I think you should find other less competitive long-trail keywords which are easier to be optimized for newbies. |

This beats choosing only one keyword which does not perform and having to start all over again with a completely new keyword at a later stage.
