I'm a beginner to SEO and have a question about how the Google keyword tool works. When doing a broad search for a keyword, say for example "popular video cameras" (without the quotes), are the number of searches per month not exclusive to that keyword phrase? In other words, if the keyword tool gives me a number of 5000 local searches per month for that keyword phrase, does that also include other similar phrases? If I want to know how many searches my keyword gets as it is, I would search with the [exact] box checked? |

If you dont click on exact, it gives broad, which includes all sorts of other bs terms numbers

Yes, click the exact box. You can see a keyword go from 1000's all the way down to <10
