Hi, I have told that when I write a post on my blogs, I should add a link in it, pointing to an outside source, as well as linking a keyword in it back to my own site. My question is: What does the linking to an outside source really do? And is there a good or bad way to do it? (I mean, could I hurt my site in any way, depending what I link to?) Another question: When I link to an outside source, which is better, linking to a high PR website, or a low PR site? (I'm talking about having link juice flowing out and in.) I was unsure how it worked, someone said that if I put a lot of links on my blog roll, it makes link juice flow out of my site. Would it be the same for links in posts, and would their be any difference in how much link juice I lost, depending on the PR of the link?(meaning, do I lose more link juice with a low PR link, than a high PR link?) Really wanting to clear this up, once and for all! ![]() Thanks in advance! Ruth |

I would suggest 1 link to your site and may be one to reputed 3rd party source e.g. BBC. If you vary the links to other sites it reduces your foot print. Don't do too many links to your own site. Specially using same keywords as only the first one is counted and it may dilute the link juice. Watch out for this when linking via images and text at the same time. |
