Backlinks from Social Bookmarking Sites

Hi Warriors,

Just a quick question.

I have been bookmarking my sites for a while now at social bookmarking sites.

The problem is, which I really cannot understand, is that when I check my backlinks stats using different SEO tools, the backlinks that I have generated from these social bookmarking sites are not included. I bookmarked these sites a few months ago, so they should be included by now.

I really dont understand why.

Do other people have to bookmark my pages aswell or what?

Most of the larger social bookmarking sites are 'nofollow' meaning the links you submit do not count as backlinks.

Hi thanks for the list.

However the interesting thing is that alot of those sites are the ones that I am already bookmarking my sites at...

Infact just as an example, I ran a backlink check on the website that you gave me. It said that it had 211 backlinks but only one of them was from a social bookmarking site and that was technorati.

Is this correct?

Links from social bookmarking sites cannot be easily indexed even though they are doffollow because pages in social bookmark sites where your link is placed are changing from time to time... it will take time to appear...

Thanks for your comment and also the good resources. So they are only counted as a backlink once they are indexed?

I always find that Furl gives me a pretty strong backlink.

I use Digg, not for backlinks, but to get indexed quickly.

You can see a list of social bookmarking sites at my WSO (signature), most of them dofollow sites and the rest are big bookmark sites with lots of traffic.

When page on social bookmark site is not moving anymore, especially when it is archived, yes.

you are right as most of the big social netwrorking sites today are nofollow.....which means that the link we are adding to is not considered as backlink due to nofollow operator on the website.....

Yeah, the big rush is over, most techniques that worked well 1-2 years ago now lost most of their efficiency. Still a nice addition, but I'd concentrate on link trading instead...you can easily outrank a site with 150.000 spammy backlinks with just 150 good backlinks.

just wait-- there are large number of pages that get added to these . so ur might take some time. Digg is the quickest --follwed by stumble from my experience

More dofollow than nofollow.. Social bookmark owners realized the importance of dofollow for traffic...
