Default using adwords keyword tool vs others?

I always use adwords keyword tool for my research but recently started looking at SEO book keyword tool but when you look at the numbers adwords and SEO book keyword tool are totaly different on what the amount of searches are for keywords. Why is this

Yeah you'll find this will all keyword software and tools. Usually this is because they pull data from different sources or a different combination of sources, and maybe they have different averaging algorithms or something like that.

Don't assume Google is the most accurate though, that's often not the case.

Agreed. There seems to be no definitive tool and they all contradict each other.

Best thing is just to stick with which ever you are most familiar with.

I'm most familiar with adwords tool but the seo book keyword tool actually has better results but if their not accurate it doesn't mean anything.

i wouldn't go with a single tool, i use more than 4 sources to do my keyword research and some custom made tools for keyword list building.

about testing to get the real number of a keyword searches there is an odd method using adwards but it works..

"create an irrelevant add to the keyword and make sure it appears on page one of google, run it for 48 hours 99% of the time you will get 0-3 clicks. what you are after is the number of ad impressions, then you can make your calculations"
