Default Calling all website/SEO techy's?

Hi warriors,

I'm looking for a site techy pro here...

I bought a dropped domain 2-3 months ago

www.seedburostore.com

I re-created the domain so it appears just as it did before it was dropped, (will change in due course but wanted to keep it legit with Google).

My problem is that even after 2-3 months - When I Google:

info:seedburostore.com

It still shows the previous owners NEW site "seedburo.com" So I have know way of knowing if the PR is still valid.

Is there anyway for me to sort this?

Thanks in advance.
John.

Have you tried claiming site in webmaster tools and resubmitting a sitemap?

That's a weird one, John. As above, add your site to Webmaster Tools and get an idea of if Google is saying anything. The previous owner may have said that their new site is the same as the old site so you have to say otherwise.

Are your pages crawled regularly? Are you getting search traffic?

Your design is identical to the previous owner's. Not sure what Google thinks of that. I bet the previous owner isn't happy though. Just something to be aware of.

Hi Trybpo/Fraggler,

Thanks for stopping by..

I haven't added to 'webmaster tools' as I like to avoid giving Google any more info than I have to about my sites, but if it's the only way then I'll give it a go.

Yes the design is identical. This isn't long-term though. I bought the dropped domain and wanted to keep it 'as is' for a little while to avoid any Pagerank penalties. I hadn't intended it to be for this long.

Just checked awestats - Pages are being crawled like mad and there is a small amount of human traffic from search engines too.

That's really all that matters. There is a chance that the domain was redirected previously and this would explain the different domain in the info: search. It is just strange it is still like that for 3 months. It might be a case of showing Google you are a new owner and the only way to do that is with Webmaster Tools.

Thanks fraggler - I appreciate your time.

I guess it's off to the 'webmaster tools' for me then.

Cheers,
John.

I'm not sure why it still shows that and/or how long it will take to update. However, if the info:seedburostore.com search didn't turn up seedburostore.com when you bought the domain, I wouldn't have purchased it (at least not for its PR). That's the quickest way to tell if a domain's PR is faked...

I do always check info:site + some other fake PR checks before buying domains but I believe this one was legit. It was a company name change rather than somebody just redirecting to fake PR.

You're obviously right - there is a chance that the PR will drop once the site is showing in it's own right but at the price I paid I'm more than happy to take that chance.

Thanks for your input.
