When you're researching a niche, do you care about EMD's? I'm a bit obsessed with finding the best possible EMD.... does it really matter? I've read quite a few reports, and it's popped up a lot, that they're important. |

| Sure across the entire web exact match domains can rank for a wide variety of keywords, but there are a couple things to think about when stating that... the bonus any domain gets is only relevant to their 1 exact match phrase.

I do think a .com or .net emd has a higher chance of ranking than that of a regular domain with less seo.

Exact match domains are advantageous in some cases but you do not have to use them in Order to Succeed. It really depends on what the Site is about sometimes I Prefer to use a brandable domain as opposed to an EMD.

An EMD gives you an edge, all else being equal. It is just one aspect. It is not critical if you're willing to do proper SEO. Evidence: have you ever once done a Google search and the top 10 results were EMDs?

EMD isnt as strong as it used to be. And its very hard to find an EMD for an Amazon niche that is worth all the effort. I was also obsessed with EMDs few months ago when i started with IM. But now i dont care anymore. I rather go for niches that have good search volume, not too hard competition and are profitable and worth my time. Just look that you have your main keyword in domain and you are good. |

Yes, I do care about Exact Match Domains. Many Internet Marketers have propagated the message that possessing an Exact Match Domain will mitigate the efforts of gaining a #1 Rank in a Search Engine.

I always get an EMD if I can. Especially if you can get it for a buyer keyword. Seems to make things a little easier. Although they are getting harder and harder to find good ones these days.

EMD on a TLDs can be very helpful but its certainly not a "must have", SEO is most important. As Gene said - look at the top 10 results whenever you do a search for something, very few are exact matches. Also, dont forget that using hyphens, stop words, buyer KWs...etc etc in domain names can get great results too. |

I used to be obsessed with exact match domains, but now I am kind of leaning towards brandable domain names. People tend to remember them easier than keyword.com, they look more professional, and you aren't limited to a specific keyword when creating content.

I don't bother with EMD's, I find it so much more beneficial to start out with an aged domain, to me that helps so much more with SEO and gives you that boost at the beginning so that you don't have to wait 3 months+ to start seeing any real notable results. Scrap EMD and go for aged instead. Andy *** SIDENOTE*** If you can get an "aged EMD" then wow! your laughing, never found one though |

From a user perspective, EMDs can become a hindrance if the consumer sees enough crappy sites with EMDs. I know that when I do my own research (both for business and for personal reasons), if I see too many EMDs I'm looking at affiliate flogs or splogs for the most part. What I don't do is scan the results looking for valid reviews for a Widget 5000 and clap for joy that the top results are some form of "widget5000reviews.com". It means I'm going to have to keep digging, because the odds of finding an unbiased review (positive or negative) are pretty slim. | |

emd it is usually the best choice if you intend to build a website around a specific keyword, especially in MNS sites ....emd tends also to rank faster then other domain names.

If you're making a small site based on one or two keywords, then yes, it is important because you're trying to rank with little content so everything needs to work perfectly. If you're building a larger site then it's probably better to go with something brandable, with keyword targeted articles

in my experience, EMD is still valid and can increase your PR in google... but be sure to accompany it with good content and backlink, it make your life easier
