SEO and Articles

Hi,

I have a website that I wish to rank for local keywords. Im going to have some articles written targetting each keyword and post them on my site.

My question.

Will it do my site harm in Big G if I hide the articles from the page widget?

I dont want the visitor to know they exist, so I want to be able to exclude them from the wordpress page widget. Will this harm me? As they are hidden content? I just want google to be able to see them.

I am not sure what you are wanting to achieve, you want Google to rank your site based on hidden content, so that when a visitor comes to your site as a result of a search of a keyword in the hidden articles they will not find the information they are seeking does not make sense.

Please explain

Basically my partner wishes to setup a dog walking business. I wish to target the articles for (local town) dog walking etc.

So the articles are for purely seo. They will not have anything the customer wishes to read. All they will do is rank the site higher for the particular keyword. Well I think they would if this wont work I wont bother

If you are thinking of hiding content on your website then I would suggest you check out the official word from Google related to this subject: Hidden text and links - Webmaster Tools Help

Don't jeopardise your SEO efforts by taking this approach. Consider using the articles as a way of gaining targetted inbound links through article marketing with the anchor text you are attempting to rank for.

As of my experience it can harm your ranking as it's black hat SEO technique. Instead if you going to be article written for your website then you can submit them on the article website with High PR and those who give Do follow back link.
