How to rank better in Google in a certain region ?

Hi everybody,

My travel related website is about the metropolitan cities of Asia and, hence, I'm ranking much better in places like Singapore, Hong Kong Thailand and Malaysia than elsewhere on earth, although I did not plan it initially... (probably because Google and Yahoo consider my content as more relevant to searches coming from those countries... Isn't it ? )

Now... If I want to become even stroger on searches coming from those countries, what sould I do ? Should I try to place quality backlinks on Singaporean blogs ? Should I specifically look for Malaysian article directories ?

go to google webmaster tools and choose the country that you wish to rank well in for. I can't remember the exact name for it but have a look around in the tools section so you can tell Google. You might want to consider getting a local extension as well for your domain name in the countries you are doing well in.

Apart from article directories, you can also look for their local forum or press release or blog to build backlinks there.

Have a good variety of backlinks, but maybe give a bit more emphasis on the local backlinks from the country you want to rank for.

You could also get a domain from the local country, and I heard hosting it in the country also helps get it ranked better there

If you have yellow pages like sites or local business directory sites in those countries, you should also consider getting your site linked to from there.

Register your local yellow pages and yell them bookmark your yellow pages listings. Also make a video about your local yellow pages listing and submit it to as many video sharing sites as you can, linking back to your yellow pages listing and not to your site. Hope it will help. Enjoy!

The problem is my business is not resident in those countries... It is a travel-related-website about those countries, but it does not physically exist in any of them... I'm not sure the local Yellow-Pages will be able to list me, but I'll try to look for them, as well as for other directories with good reputation
