Hello, I am hoping you Warriors can answer a simple question for me. I am searching for information on the ranking of Sub domains and while I find hundreds of answers, I find no answer that is appropriate for the reason I am doing the search in the first place. If you have time to answer the question, I would greatly appreciate it. I am new to Internet Marketing and would like to set up a site to rate Classic Cars. I am of the understanding that Keyword Rich Domain names Rank better, faster and easier than do Non Keyword Rich Domains, However, every single word and/or phrase that has anything at all to do with Cars is already taken. For example Car/s,auto/s,automobile/s,classiccar/s,classicauto/s.com,net,org,biz, - all taken. So, I came up with the idea of registering the synonym "caac" which can stand for anything I want it too or nothing at all. Then, I can set up subdomains like classiscars.caac.com or classicautos.caac.com or classicfords.caac.com or classicvet.caac.com etc Finally, my question is: Will I have a good chance of being ranked and therefor found when someone searches for the keyword Classiccar/s or classic auto or classic vets etc. s |

Here's an article I refer to on the use of subdomains. I use them and get them ranked. Quote:

Subdomain is treated as completely separate domain, but can also be a part of the main domain if you want to. If you have a sub domain and you want to promote it as your main domain (which is your case), it is perfectly fine. If you decide to go with your sub somain for extra keywords, don't forget to set the 301 redirect from your main URL if you want both URLs pointing at the same page. |

Yeah you can definitely set up the subdomains that way and get a ton of traffic. In fact, I have plenty of sites where one of the subdomains is getting WAY MORE traffic than the main domain.
