Default Site creation software

I have a reasonably successful site with about 60 pages of good original content that is now starting to pull in a good income from adsense.

To date I have been constructing my site by hand (css & divs) by editing the .php files by hand. Are there any good simple programs I can use to generate new pages automatically so I do not need to spend time updating all my navigation includes, sitemap etc every time i create a new page of content?

I am not looking to create the content automatically, just the page and navigation etc. Ideally it would be a free program and i guess more importantly one I can run off a USB pen as I tend to work on my sites all over the place!

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Depending upon your site you might consider running a blog on wordpress rather than a website. If you buy your own domain and pay a bit extra you can create quite impressive blogs.

Aside from the mobility and the free part - XSitepro is very good for what you do.

You set the site structure and them mass import all your .txtx files in one go. It can bring them in with tokens and make them.html . You can insert adsense blocks automatically and the navigation is site-wide etc..

The page names and descriptions will auto fill.

It takes only a few minutes to make a content site once you have articles ready.

I second implementing wordpress. Although it's primarily used for blogging, wordpress is in itself a pretty powerful content management system, and if you know a little css and basic html you can do some pretty amazing things with it, AND it will do everything you want including automatic navigation and sitemap updated, as well as making adding pages easy and quick. Plus it has the added benefit of making site management easy by controlling urls, page placement, keyword tagging, and pinging without any extra effort on your part, aside from setting it up.

If you want to stick to HTML, then I suggest xsitepro.

That said, I think the simplest way to manage a medium-sized site is using a modified wordpress template. You can have it modified such that it looks nothing like a blog at all (which is what I assume you must be worried about). The cost can range from $300 - $500, but its worth it IMO.

Hope this helps.

are you kidding? X-site pro is one of the worst site generation programs out there, they leave so much junk on the page, you may as well code in front page - NOT..

you wait until my seo website builder pro is launched, then you'll see what a REAL website generator is about.

Your wrong xsitepro is a good program , and I have not never tried v2.0 yet... but I agree they do leave some rubbish in the html code but with the speed of then net now does it really make much of a difference..

I have made a lot of sites with xsitepro that have got a top 10 ranking in google.

and as for seo website builder pro.... I have not seen or tried that... who made it... is there a demo to try

Thx
Tom

Hi chill123,

There are plenty of CMS programs on the market and some are open source (free).

You could probably accomplish what you are trying to do with a little bit of scripting and SSI (server side includes). This would give you the freedom to control every aspect of your code.

If you don't want to do your own coding and don't care about having total control, then I would recommend WordPress.

I made it, it's not ready yet... there will be a special offer going to WSO members once it's ready.

I agree, XsitePro is great for making a quick site but horrible coding! I bought it and then uninstalled it the first time it came out.

PageBreeze is free and does a great job, as does Komposer. But Wordpress can be made to create virtually anything you want.

This is exactly why I love XSitePro. You can get a nice looking website up in just a few minutes once you have the content ready to go. Also it just makes everything easy for the user!
