Could bookmarking on paid bookmark sites harm my SEO?

I've just been thinking about the paid social bookmarking sites. Would creating bookmarks on those paid sites, have any chance of harming the SEO of the website(s) I am making bookmarks about?

I presume Google knows they are paid, and might thus assign less importance to the bookmark than unpaid ones, but will it still be a positive SEO effect to use the paid ones, or could it be negative?

Because they get a share of the AdSense revenue from pages that bookmarkers create for them, and the people doing the bookmarking get a share too. All they have to do is setup a website with an automatic system for people to post bookmarks, articles or whatever, and they make money!

Yes I know they are good, but they don't pay do they. Any chance of you answering the question I asked, rather than a different one?
