Default Article Marketing Robot - waste of money?

Hey guys,

I see a lot of people pushing this piece of software so I picked it up. Problem is, of the 2000 directories in it, only 250 work. All the others came back with 404's, page not found, not accepting signups, etc.

Then on submission, most of the 250 error out for various reasons (cant find categories, can't have html etc)

Is this just another product that is talked about so much because of the huge affiliate payouts? I feel like we got burned.

I feel your pain. I have had similar experiences with it. Not quite as bad as you, but dismal to say the least. I even got a list of directories to add to what is in AMR, and when I signed up with this list I did worse than I did with the default list. I almost never use it any more. I never did see any change in my position after using it anyway. My site still didn't appear in the first 50 pages according to Traffic Travis.

Its not horrible but people blow it up Waaay more than it is. Is pretty buggy now and thats not just my experience, Plenty of people on their board have the same issues. It needs a good upgrade and rewrite.

I did consider buying it because so many people here say it's so amazing and stuff. Actually this is the first time I've heard that its buggy. How much did you guys pay for it?

There are constantly new betas out for it. Its not amazing, but i use it.
I get about 250 odd live links out around 1100 i can submit to.

Make sure you follow the best practices for better sign up rates/submissions etc

Are you following the best practices as stated on the AMR forum? There's quite a number of things you need to get right to ensure you get a good success rate.

You should be getting far more than 250 signups.

Are you putting HTML in your article body? If it says can't have html, it sounds like you are. Only put HTML in the resource box unless you intend to re-submit the article again later without HTML in the body to all the directories which didn't accept HTML in the body.

I got a $10 discount code, but Clickbank charged something like $20 tax so the price was over $100 i think.

How many articles did you submit for the site which didn't appear in the first 50 pages? It sounds like you either;

- Didn't ping the live links or create an RSS feed out of them so the search engines didn't index most of the backlinks.

- Didn't follow the best practices when submitting i.e. unique summary, correct usage of category tags, no html in body, etc..

- Didn't submit enough articles so their wasn't enough link juice to improve your sites ranking.
How competitive is the keyword your site is targetting?

It needs a full makeover. It was pretty good for awhile.

I still use it (or did until Penguin, not too sure I will from now on) to give sites a wee tickle - when you get everything else right (on-page, keyword choice etc.) then it can be useful to have in the mix. But you definitely need to get more, less-abused directories in there, and yes, also follow best-practice.

Although the software is a bit shaky sometimes, it is still incredible to watch it work, submitting hundreds of articles in minutes. It's just a question of whether that practice is really worth engaging in any more. I would say maybe, but only just. It's not a magic wand, that's for sure.
