"How to improve your alexa rank?

These are the common techniques that are proved to be very effective.

I:

* Submit info page sites thus creating many good links

* Change in forums to point to both sites

* Participated in blogs that you like.

*Try post as many as articles on net on different sites with inlinks to your sites.

* Added a link button in MIS Info Video to go directly to the blog

* Allowed comments in my post thus increasing the community/traffic

* Added the Alexa widget showing my rank.

* Using the Alexa Toolbar (Internet Explorer) and SearchStatus (Firefox)(very improtant to improve your site traffic, since you will browse your site at least few times a day on your computer which will automatically improve the alexa ranking, as alexa would not check the ip, but only the traffic.)

One of the problem with Alexa is that unless visitors use the free Alexa Toolbar(Internet Explorer only) or SearchStatus(Firefox, I use it and it's not from Alexa), the visits are not counted. I added the Alexa widget to show my rank of my sites in an effort to spread the word about them. Some even say that adding the widget may improve your rank quickly.

Another problem is that your buddy could just refresh your site page and this will count.

So, if you like a site, please install any of these free toolbars and this will help them in return to pay for the site cost by getting an higher return from advertisers. "

Thanks for the useful post. I have never been able to fully understand the Alexa Rank. It seems to be a bit random when it goes up or down.

I believe that alexa rank is a marketing device that was created to promote the use of the alexa tool bar. Alexa's rank is always inaccurate and relatively easy to manipulate.

If you put their widget on your site and nobody clicks it, your rankings will drop by the millions. Tell your site visitors to click the widget and your rankings will come soaring back up. It's all about what you can do for alexa.

The more you do to promote the alexa tool bar to your visitors the higher your alexa rank will be. The alexa rank has little to do with your website's traffic and everything to do with how you rank as an alexa tool bar promoter. (Shh... don't tell anyone though).

Put the Alexa Rank Widget on your website. This will bring in all the visitors you have dreamt of.

The very best way to improve your alexa rank is to put it in a huge
autosurf. I shouldn't, but autohits.dk is one of the biggest.
Their alexa rank is 14,000. Some of the top alexa sites are
traffic exchanges. That should tell you something.
Trafficswarm is the baddest boy. Alexa of about 2,000. They used
to be a top 500 site.

Alexa rank is not really used much in the real world.

h1dayah, your first 3-4 suggestions are not really for alexa,
but for getting real visitors. Alexa rank needs a massive amount
of traffic, not backlinks. But you'll sure get more mileage out of
those than anything that would pump up your alexa rank
