Default How The Panda Update Affected Article Directories & Marketers & Helped Others

I am not asking a question just giving back in my own little way to this community a way of saying "thank you" to everyone here and Alexa who seems to share willingly her experience to everyone here.

For those of you who are advanced or newbies like me in article marketing, I want to share this piece of info I have found that may enlighten you about certain if you are not already informed about this.

It appears that so far what Alexa has mentioned in my posts is accurate and others as well.

What I want you to walk away with is this, if you are a newbie like me with article marketing syndication the read the bullets below:

  • write quality articles for people and some for seo and you'll be rewarded with traffic, rankings, syndication
  • write crappy articles and suffer the wrath of the new google panda update with no syndication opportunities, no traffic, no seo rankings
  • top article directories that accepted crappy articles paid a big price as well which hurted everyone, those just looking for link juice or traffic from directories like ezine articles or maybe syndication opportunites possibly
What I found is information of a list of top sites that were crushed by the new google panda update. They were accepting crappy articles from authors using article marketing to help them make money and possibly used poor methods to produce quick poor content.

Here are some numbers for you to contemplate from Sistrix, showing the "Drop In Traffic Received from Google" from before, to after the Google Panda Update:
  • Articles Base -94%
  • Suite 101 -94%
  • Associated Content -93%
  • Ezine Articles -90%
  • Find Articles -90%
  • Hub Pages -87%
  • Buzzle -85%

Any feedback you would like to add here for the benefit of others is cool, I am not asking any questions here just sharing information that may help people understand the seriousness of this update and how those that play ball with google will benefit greatly

Hubpages.com has choosen the solution of putting users accounts in subdomains now instead of subdirectories, I imagine this may be seen as content spread over multiple sites with less duplicate content in any one, sort of.

Compete.com shows a visitor peak in January of 14,240,000
and a trough of 6,440,000 in June confirming the extremes differ more than -87%
last month they climbed to 8,716,000, still early...

I heard an analysis suggesting that Panda is actually a processor intensive filter they just let out of the barn for an 'update' every 4-5 weeks, and not an integral part of their daily ranking mechanism.

I am also worried about that part too.

I think the take away here is simple...just adjust to the changes, may be difficult to do when some of you are losing money from all of this.

But this does not have to be a bad thing, it can be actually an opportunity in disguise

Remember, there is actually less competition, FOOD FOR THOUGHT THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY A BLESSING

Hope this helps for those that have lost income due to this update, my advice is that you learn from this and grow from it !

I do agree about your opinion that article sites are usually used for backlinking but it would be great if you can provide full details about "over optimized content" thing. Hope you elaborate it further thanks.

I'm kind of happy with the updates actually, gives people like me who actually create real content a leg up against the spammers and SEO "experts" who took advantage of the old system even though they wrote terrible keyword stuffed content.

My name is Rob and I'm the founder of BROcrastinator.com, a men's entertainment site focusing on all things Bro (sports, viral videos, music, movies, etc).
