Default As a wise old webmaster advised me

Beware of old threads with dated advise

You pull up a thread from the search tool that is from 2009? before Panda etc etc and all the algorithm changes?

Dont put too much stock into it

In 2012 you'll see everyone saying the same about the silly panda propaganda.

Panda propaganda, is a selling tool for products, don't get so caught up in the hype.

Nothing has changed with seo, seo still revolves around text/keywords & backlinks just like it did 5 years ago, & it will 5 years from now.

Its not propoganda to say google is actively targeting mini sites, and affiliate sites

this was not the case a year ago
this has nothing to do with SEO, this has to do with CONTENT

I don't think anyone is questioning that. However, that's not what you hear on SEO forums about the Panda updates all the time. I hear all this fanciful guesswork, something happens to a website and they don't know why, and someone says, "it must be because of the Panda updates" and then everyone buys it.

Most of what I hear about the Panda updates are myths and nothing but guesses, with zero proof to back it up.

No, it's not a lie. But the basics remain the same. Target keywords you know you can compete in, build a quality site with unique content, and build backlinks with your anchor text.

That's pretty much it.

The problem most people run into is relying on third party sites for their income. "Bum Marketing" was a dangerous technique. I can understand sending a % of your articles to ezine since they ranked so well. That's fine. But a lot of people were sending ALL of their content to ezine and trusting it to them. These people are probably feeling the pain of the panda update.

The people who wrote content and ranked their own sites are not.

Exactly, Panda isn't about seo, it's a scare tactic that a few ruthless sellers use to push new seo products/services.

EZA created it's own problems by blasting it's site with content in exchange for backlinks. I have no doubts a manual review sank EZA (for a while).

Funny how none of my network of sites dropped in the SERPs when EZA was tanked. Want to know why? Because I didn't have any backlinks on EZA.
