How to figure out how many backlinks a competitor has

I have the plugin Seoquake for mozilla firefox but I can't seem to figure out how to see the amount of backlinks a site has.

Does anyone know how I can see the backlinks of a site using seoquake?

For getting details of backlinks to anyone's site , you can search them in google. Write Link : your site name in search box. And this way you will get the list of the backlinks. And i would like to say that instead of using any tool , manually observation for backlinks is effective.

What if there is a "hubpage" ranked #1 for a specific keyword. I'm pretty sure that it appears to be a low competition keyword.

The #2 spot for this exact keyword is a forum thread.

Does this mean that this keyword should be easy to get in the #1 spot for?

How would I check backlinks to a hubpage? The entire hubpage url?

Well if you are willing to check competitors backlinks amount you can use tools like Open Site Explorer & SEO Elite

You can also check it in Yahoo Site Explorer.

Majestic SEO is seemingly taking the place as the top source for this kind of thing. Apparently Yahoo Site Explorer will be taken offline in the near future, and Market Samurai and Micro Niche Finder have already switched to Majestic.

I am not sure about Majestic SEO and how good it is but when you talk about Site Explorer's i would prefer to go for Open Site Explorer by SEOMOZ

You can go to SEO Quake Preferences and click on Add More Parameters then it will open SEO Quake Site from where you can add OSE Parameter which will include Opebn Site Explorer Parameter in toolbar that will show you inbound links of your competator Website or else if you want to find your competators backlinks and want to download a csv file too so you can enter their url to open site explorer and download a csv file too which will show you that on what dofollow places your competitor created a dofollow backlink and nofollow as well that will make your work really easy when building links : )

You may try backlinkwatch to check backlinks of your competitor. It is also shown in Alexa the sites linking in a particular site.

Using this method, you'll be lucky to see 1% of your backlinks. Google shows you, very, very, very little backlink information.

Such plug ins give an average count of backlinks...

For a thorough investigation, you need to use some other tool like Yahoo! siteexplorer or Keyword Country.
