Hi guys, Okay so i decided to create a software that aids in the SEO research process. I am working with my software programmer on this, and i would like to hear some opinions on what i am integrating into this software, and also what you SEO guys might want in an seo research software. Now this is not a SEO backlinking auto spam software, i personally dont really support software in terms of doing the actual off page SEO work. But by all means do them if you want. But this is not what its about. This software only aids the keyword research part. Keyword research is a very important process as SEO experts always say. Its like a buildings foundation. Do it wrong and the whole building will collapse in future and u waste ur time and money and effort. And most importantly demoralizing you. So what this software does is basically it automatically does all the research on keywords, it will be programmed to go through the steps that i would have done if i am doing the research. Also i have paid a few SEO consultants from local corporate companies to hear a variety of views and opinions about this. So i have collated holistic way of doing SEO kw research Of cause i will be explaining how and what the steps are, its good to know what the software is doing in the background too. Correct me if im wrong, but so far i have seen softwares that are related to kw research for SEO all being manual research. Dont get me wrong, they are good ones out there like market samurai. But still you have to manually know how to read the data, know what to do with the data, know how to use the software to get the data you want, know what data u need to get and so on. Its like in the old days most work are done with manual labour, then slowly machines are involved, but the early machines need people to work them, so its still in a way manual labour but it is aided by machines, what my software does is that it does all the research BUT u still have to put the keyword in and press go. Thats all. So in a nut shell, so far what i intend the software to be is this, you put in the main keyword or niche that you are in, ie: weight loss. Then you hit "go" the software will go through all the steps and consider all the different factors and do a calculation. Giving you a score at the end with all the other datas that were used in the calculations for reference, but the score is basically for you to look at it at a glance and roughly estimate how easy this keyword will be when ranking. It does give you other kws too, not just the main ones, it will include all the other long tail and etc. It will show you which EMDs are available too and which extentions if the .com is taken. I am sorry for being long winded. I usually am. I want to give as much as possible. So go ahead and tell me your opinion and what u want in a seo research software. Looking forward to see all your valuable comments. =) cheer! Neil. |

Hey there ok that is good.. but just to remind everyone, its not a backlink software, so it has nothing to do with off page seo. [BUT again i might make it all in 1 SEO software, depends] =) thanks again

I know, you are not trying to create backlink generation or SEM software that is why i have not included marketing features like article publishing, bookmarking, video publishing, blog commenting and all which are normally added features in backlink & SEO marketing softwares..

Tough market to break, there isn't a whole lot that you can do to make your s/w "different" than the others. I personally know 2-3 similar software launching within the next 2 weeks. |

saw ur sig. Cool, looks good. My would be different from yours. Cos i believe all niches can be profitable, depends how you attack it. So my software is purely for keyword research, 1 click done for you, keyword research. The niche is up to you. It wont tell you the niche that u should go into. That u will need to decide on ur own. after which then u input the main keyword. =)

These are options I would like (and I dont know of any tool that does all of this): 1. Allow me to set my own parameters (kinda like MS) 2. Brainstorm option (like MNF but more robust like randomly supply seed kw from thousands of niches 50-100 at time) 3. Take results from 1st kw search and resubmit each one to get more results and Then do it again with the second search. 4. Then give me EMD's, Search volume, CPC 5. Then Competition analysis on top 10(PR, on page/off page SEO) 6. Then a level of difficulty score. Other functions 1. Group kw into like themes 2. Allow wild card search where tool insert relevant words in place of " * ". ( * kw * ) or ( * word1 * word2 * ) 3. Allow fixed prefix/suffix searches like adding "how to" or "where" etc. to a seed kw and allowing users to add to that prefis/suffix list. 4. make it webbased |

So far everything listed is already found in tools like Keyword Scout. If you want to succeed, you really something new and advanced. It's going to be hard to beat Keyword Scout's open source addons.

Don't limit the search to 1k keywords. I hate the fact that I need to break my keyword list into 20-25 separate ones. If you make me break it in 4-5, you'd make me happy, and if you'd make me break it in only 2 searches, I'd be your new best friend. If, by some wonder, you manage to support that big of a list in one search, I'll send you my info so you can file a restraining order in advance because I don't know what I might do ![]() In all seriousness, I think that's what most KW tools are missing. Furthermore, a backlink analysis of the competition on page 1 would do great |

Neil, I was going to release a keyword tool a year or so ago but due to having a full time day job I didn't have the time to commit to give it the support it would need. I did however program my own version that I used to great success. This is what my software did and what I wanted it to do. I think a dedicated team could do wonders if they implemented some of them. Keyword anaylsys is broken down into two different areas. Keyword research and Competition Analysis. Keyword research is easy and there is nothing faster at it than Google's Keyword Tool, Google.com and some common sense :: brainstorming. Where things slow down are with the Competition Analysis. What I did was create a pretty crude script that would take a bulk list of keywords (1000s) and then I would select which metrics I wanted recorded. Page PageRank, Domain PageRank, Backlinks to the Page, Backlinks to the DomainDomain Age, In Title, In Url etc. I would then record the top 10 or 20 results for each keyword into separate project files (excel spreadsheets) as well as a Master Project File. The master project file would list all of the keywords as well as the recorded metrics in different columns followed by columns for averages and custom metrics that I could then sort in Excel. These custom metrics and averages meant I could find the best keywords in a niche very easily. Everything was in front of me. Excel's conditional colour coding made it a breeze to look at. The Bulk analysis is a huge time saver. You chuck in your list of keywords and do something else while it collects the data. I had to use 100 proxies to make it quick but even a reduced amount with a longer delay between queries would keep everything flowing nicely. My plan was to have the excel features programmed directly into the software as well as the abilitity to create custom metrics so you can use what works FOR YOU and not what the software developer thinks works. The other featured I wanted to add what an automated backlink analysis: a quick overview of the anchor text, PR, and alive or dead status of the links pointing to the top result for each keyword - or at the click of a button. Market Samurai is good but it doesn't offer the bulk automation that I want. Just some ideas to think about. |

A keyword tool should be a complete process, it should take a major keyword phrase entered by the user and then find related high traffic phrases, do a search for dot com, dot net, & dot org related domains. It should generate a list of domains, keywords and rank them according to number of competing pages and backlinks from the top 5 sites using them. I know that is a pretty tall order but that is what I would like in a keyword tool and I would pay for such a thing.

I always use Google keyword tool because it provides me the actual result of every keyword phrase. In this tool we can also filter the result according to the country.

Onpage SEO, is not as important IMO and some others , as SILO'ing your website this is what gets a lot of sites not in the top position (lack of Silo structure) and this has nothing to do with kw in title, url, header and desc) |
