What kind of Adsense Ads are you seeing?

The Ads I have in my emails are mostly "ITT Tech" (college), I'm not sure If everyone else on my email list see the same Ads.

What kind of CPC are you getting?

Also, is that CPC directly from the Feedburner/Adsense/email, or the Feedburner page?

My Feedburner page is paying a lot less than the email Ads.

My feedburner email cpc is roughly the same as my onsite ads, but the ctr is much higher. Really need to work on building up the list. Had nearly ten signups today! (health niche btw)

That's the way my Feedburner page Ads are, the CPC is about the same as my on-page Adsense Ads.

My email Adsense is a lot higher CPC, I have no idea why this is happening.

My niche is not in the education niche, still I keep seeing "ITT Tech" Adsense Ads inside my Feedburner Emails.

Hey Yukon,

First of all, thanks a million for this brilliant thread. It's pure gold! I especially appreciate the detail that you've gone into explaining how to implement. Thanks!!!

Your mention of the ITT Tech ads made me wonder... You know how the adsense ads that show up at the top of Gmail inboxes are usually contextual based on the content of the mail message in the mailbox (e.g. if you're in the spam folder, the ad at the top is typically for SPAM recipes), well, I'm wondering if this explains why the Feedburner email message are getting considerably higher CPC -- because they are leveraging the content of the person's inbox to target the type of ad that shows up.

It sounds like the ITT Tech ads probably correspond more closely to the contents of your email inbox than the niche/hobby content of the email you've sent via your site. I'm guessing this targeting may also contribute to higher CPC ads/topics being shown. The ITT Tech ads are bound to pull a hefty CPC, especially compared to ads related to your niche.

Granted this possibly only pertains to gmail and google-apps mail, and not that it is really here nor there, but it occurred to me when I read your note about the ITT Tech ads as a possible reason for why the email Adsense ads are getting higher CPC.

Thanks again for letting us in on this!!

Kelly

Thanks, that's an interesting idea, maybe they are pulling text from the entire email account?

I might have to setup a fresh gmail, optin to the Feedburner email list, & create a new blog post, just to see what type of Adsense Ads I get in the new email.

Really this is the reason I started this thread, I wanted to see If anyone else was getting good CPC with Feedburner/Adsense/email. The way I figured, If everyone else was getting high email CPC, I would maybe be able to find out what triggers the higher paying email Ads.

My niche for this email list isn't a high CPC niche. It does get good steady traffic, that's what keeps me motivated with the site.

I might have to bribe a couple of people on my list to send me a screenshot of the Feedburner emails, then I could compare the Adsense Ads, lol.

Hi Yukon,

How is your feedburner/adsense going lately? Is the earning stable and consistent?

My earnings from feed just spiked 3 days ago and has been like this since. What I did was actually opposite to what you did. I switched from the snippet text to the full content and the earning started skyrocketing. Hope it stays that way.

Cheers, Kent

Yes, still the same good results with my email subscribers (Feedburner/Adsense).

I've tested a few different things & the email with snippet always blows the direct Feedburner feed page away, with Adsense (big time).

I still don't know why the Ads inside email payout a lot more, just that it works, so I'm sticking with it.

Good to hear your doing well with full page content.

Yukon, Luke and guys,
Iīm using Adsense for Feeds since some months and itīs great, even if CTR is 10x lower than on Content and I donīt have any better CPC

But since couple of weeks I canīt access the BETA interface, with all the advanced stats, anymore:
feedburner.google.com/gfb/
Can you confirm if everyone has the same problem?

Cheers

Plan-B is like I said before, create a single awesome bit of content, something folks might be willing to pay for, then give the content away for free in exchange for them signing up for your Feedburner list.

You can make your email list go viral with the right niche + free give-away.

I know one of my competition has a monthly Free drwaing & the winner gets something most times valued at around $300 on Amazon.

My competition has a Google Friend Connect subscribers list of over 25,000 in the hobby niche.

They are wasting money IMO, because I know for a fact I could convert that 25k subscribers into some awesome Adsense earnings via Feedburner/Adsense email.

This is how I plan on growing my own Feedburner email list. I might have to make it look like it's not a contest I'm not sure yet about all the related TOS when creating a list on Feedburner/Adsense.

Getting the list to opt-in on the new Feedburner list is the only way I know will work.

I'll keep looking for a contact on Feedburner...
Yukon, this thread is awesome and I am currently working through some ideas for a great site utilizing this.

Did you ever find any answers to the whole drawing/list thing? I had great success in the past with growing a list via a giveaway, and that idea really appeals to me for this set-up; however, I don't want to break any TOS.

Yes, for some reason they have removed the new Feedburner Beta Admin. The Beta link now redirects to the old Feedburner Admin. It's not easy to get an answer from Feedburner, so I'm not sure If this will be fixed or not?

I liked the new Beta Admin. because the data was real time, unlike the old Admin.

Oh wow, I just saw this thread for the first time. That's some interesting stuff there Yukon. Now I have a dilemma of course, because there are now two very different options for building a list.

The aweber style autoresponders where you own the list and can send what you want and the Feedburner list that receives content updates.

I guess it really depends on the niche. If I can monetize the traffic with CPA or direct sales I'd build a normal list. If the site can only be properly monetized with Adsense anyway, Feedburner is a good alternative.

Good to hear your getting better results now with Feedburner.

My CPC on Feedburner is still way higher than my actual site, I still can't find a reason why this is happening. I see a lot of college education Ads when I view the emails from Feedburner, I'm not sure If anyone else on the list is seeing the same Ads?

Anyways, my site (page titles, etc...) have nothing to do with education.

I've been sending out new updates once a week, for one of my sites/list.

Yes, Feedburner is the best bet IMO for monetizing an email list with Adsense. If I was monetizing other products I would go with Aweber. Aweber just has more options. Still, Feedburner is perfect for Adsense, just depends what your monetizing with.

Thanks

You need to setup Feedburner ASAP so you don't lose any potential subscribers.

Do this:
  1. Feedburner account
  2. Publicize (tab top/center)
  3. Email Subscriptions (left sidebar)

The Feedburner email code will be on the right side of the Email Subscriptions page.

Thanks, I have done that and the sign up box is on my site. Does that automatically put a snippet on the email or do I have to select something else to keep from getting the entire blog post on the email?I guess I am a little dense about this. Also, if you don't mind, do you select top of the feed or under the feed for the adsense ad on the email? Thanks

I received my first blog email today but the adsense ad did not display at the bottom, even after I hit display all images. I didn't even know it was there. I accidentally clicked on a red x at the bottom of the post and I was sent to google for a free 75.00 adwords credit signup. I assume that was an adsense ad. Is there anything I can tweak to make the ad show up.Thanks

Hi, Yukon

I'm wondering,

Is there any niche that you have experienced that Feedburner list building is not of good benefit?

And where is it best to place the feed burner opt-in on the website?

All my Feedburner list are in the same niche. I run larger sites so it makes sense to me to pass that traffic back & forth in the same niche rather than try & start over with fresh traffic/optins for a bunch of unrelated niche sites.

I run the Feedburner optin form towards the top of each page on my sites. I have one site that I run the optin form at the top of the page & also at the bottom (footer) of the same pages. I haven't done any split testing to see which one gets more optins. I would imagine the top optin form gets the most optins, but that's only a guess.

Still going good, the lowest I've seen is +$1, the highest is +$8.

For some reason I see a lot of education Ads, which is odd because nothing on any of my pages or feeds is related to formal education.

The Ads get clicks & it pays so I'm happy.

Default Re: Adsense (Feedburner) - Your Missing Out on High Paying Clicks.

I've gotten some $8+ clicks after setting this up. I'm kicking myself hard for not pushing this on one of my sites from the start (I'd have close to 1,000 subscribers by now). I've been working hard converting my aweber list into subscribers of my RSS email feed. I've got about 70% converted and have basically stopped collecting emails for my aweber list on this site.

All I can say is test, test, test and don't believe everything you read. Affiliate marketing isn't as easy as getting emails and sending promos. For this particular site I'm convinced that building a feedburner list is the way to go.
