Firstly, I've a newbie. I've been tracking down some of my competitors backlinks and they're getting really good relevant links from other relevant websites. Are they contacting these webmasters and asking to put their link in anchor text? Are these websites that they own? I'm trying to figure out how I can do what they're doing. Here's an example. This is one of my target competitor's page: theonlinesleepclinic.com/lack-of-sleep-side-effects/ These are some of his backlinks, you can see his anchor text/keyyword "lack of sleep side effects" zoescent.com/how-can-anxiety-affect-my-sleep/ blogearningsecrets.com/blog/mild-and-serious-lack-of-sleep-side-effects/ He has tons of backlinks similar to these. The only thing I'm doing now is usign commenting on blogs to build llinks and working on submitting a few articles to directories (squidoo/ezinearticles) How do I do what this guy is doing? |

Looks like guest posting. He could also be using blog networks. Look into Article Ranks, Build My Rank and SEO Linkvine

Looks like a blog network or SEO service to me. He is submitting a SEO-optimized article (usually in spun format) and it is being posted across a number of blogs, article directories, etc. via software. |

Remember, your competitors could have 100's of these "crappy" links, and you could create 1 quality link that trumps all of them. It's quality, not quantity. What you are doing is pretty powerful and you may outrank them soon enough. You don't necessarily want to do what this guy is doing... How long have you been trying to rank for this specific keyword? |

I've seen a lot of the webpages he's getting backlinks off of. The idea seems pretty strong. They're all pages that actually talk about his subject and use anchor text with his backlink in it. I don't know if he's writing these posts as guest posts for other blogs or simply asking to have his link included in anchor text in these posts..... OR he owns some of these blogs... I wish i knew more clearly what he was doing so that I could do it too. But then again, maybe you're right. I'm hoping doing things like setting up a squidoo page would help a lot. | |

I'm tempted too buy one of those link packages... though I don't know how relevant they would be compared to something this guy is doing.

I think you can contact the blog owners if these are guest post articles. You can make the same thing and to post few guest articles if they agree.

| The concept of contacting blog owners seems like it would be an incredibly slow process. Then again... I've never actually tried to do that.

I would just use a similar SEO provider, one that writes (or you write) articles, spins them, and posts them across a myriad of blogs (private network is best), article directories, web 2.0 sites, etc. Pick a service that builds multiple tiers and incorporates social bookmarking and microblogs. I used to build links somewhat manually and it was just too tedious and slow. Your competition can easily leave you in the dust if he's using a provider that automates the service using software. It's like bringing a knife to a gun fight. Also, the links don't need to be "crappy." The quality is dependent on the article. If you write quality articles, then they will get indexed, ranked, and bring you not only a strong boost of SEO, but actual traffic. |

He may be using the tool called "My Article Network". Sort of like Guest posting, worth checking out.

You have analysis the backlinks of each competitor as may be they are getting backlinks by paying to those website or may be some of website are free, where you can put your backlink too. For each backlink you have to fight....

You can beat them by 1. Provide a better content on your page 2. Build more backlink , combine web 2.0, article marketing, press release... Do it daily, each day about 20 back links, you can beat them after few weeks to two months. |

I didn't see much going on with his blog. He doesn't have many links. You can get there by building some quality links and surpass him with no sweat. Make sure to maximize your on-site SEO first, then go off-site.
