Alexa Bot

Hi there,

I've recently observed that although I set the Wordpress privacy settings as "Don't allow search engines to visit my blog", I still see that after a few days since my site goes live, I already have an Alexa rating. I don't link to the site from anywhere and when I do administration stuff on it I go there directly.

How come that Alexa always discovers my site without any reference and even neglects to abide by the robots.txt file that tells it not to crawl my site?

Just curious...

alexa's ranking is basically from a toolbar.
if your site is visited from a people who has the toolbar installed..you will get the alexa rank
