| Well... The title says it all. My friend Yukon and I have been working it.. Wikipedia style...! LOl!It's easy... But tricky... Everyone loves Wikipedia... It comes up first for everything and is PR10 everything.... You douchebags who say "oh nofollow is a waste of time" is either a retard or noobster to the game... This has been discussed time and time and time again... Google/Bing/Yahoo like these monsters no matter what... Someone want to debate me?! Bring it... And you better bring your proof: not just hot aired opinions.... I've been here long enough to filter you fools out... ![]() Before I type up a monster thread... I would just like to know... Does anyone care or want to know how to kill it on wiki or not?!? I've done this before and got hot aired bs'ers on my tail, so this is the pre-post to my post before I waste my f*cking time... CHEERS! |

![]() Seriously though, I really hope a "dofollow" versus "nofollow" debate does not kick off here. Just interested to read the meat of the monster thread you're promising.

![]() First of all, I still think that even if a link is nofollow, depending on the source, it has a value. Google doesn't count nofollow links for PR, eg, but in the overall ranking, there are nofollow links from authoritative sites which I think that could bring value and be counted by google. Wikipedia only puts high quality websites with top notch content in their "External links" section in each wiki. I have long ago read about people editing the resources section to add their websites, I haven't done it by myself, but most of them claimed a big increase of their traffic, targeted traffic. But I don't think these links would stay for long. As soon as you add a link to wikipedia about 20+ editors will see it and probably remove your link, unless you have really fabulous original content and no advertising. It would be very reasonable for google to count these backlinks for their overall ranking algo, even though they are nofollow, since Wikipedia only allows quality websites, with quality content to be added in the "External links" section. It's like DMOZ, it gives trust. I apologize, my opinion is not based on testing, I haven't proved it yet, but I would be VERY interested if someone could test this. Yeah, I'm a little bit lazy to try it out by myself

If you have a few Wiki Ninja moves... I'm all ears! No one can discount the power of a Wikipedia link. Maybe drop a Paypal donate button in your sig... coz I will be willing to pay for this info. |

I have a few that have stuck. You need an authoritative sounding domain name. Not some spam crap. Your url should like like a real resource. Second, find pages in your niche that are halfway orphaned. They have to fly under the radar to beat the mods. You find these orphans (or orphan-like) by doing a search for your term. Then pick out ones that look good. Look for pages that are not the main one. Those probably have militant mods. Secondary pages, even non-orphan, are a good bet as well. Keep trying. You can create an infinite wikipedia accounts, so keep trying. Eventually you will find one that sticks. Think outside the box as far as pages. Find pages slightly out of your niche as well. The best tip I think is the authoritative site and domain, however. If your domain is best-cheap-hotels-mexico-whatever.com, it's going to look like spam. I don't think wikipedia is PR10, and certainly most inner pages are mid level at best, PR5-6. Some will have PR0, N/A. You won't get a link on the main index page anyway, and they are all nofollow. So PR is moot to begin with. Paul |
