Sales Page: 1 page or Full Site?

i understand google is very against having sales page landing page as an entire site. in fact, google adwords PPC campaigns will not allow you to link directly to a sales page. apparently they want you to have a full-fledged site accompanying it.

my question is how can you create a nice sales page with a sales page theme, no sidebard, header distractions while also having a legit website?

because if you upload a sales page theme, the theme will overtake the entire site.

i just want to have a sales page but i am completely stumped on how to do it.
