Is .me Extensions Ok For SEO?

If I use a .me extension for a WP blog reviewing an afilliates product, will it hurt my rankings because it's not a .com?

I know some folks have used other extensions....but most still recommend .com .org or .net.

how many .me extensions do you see on the first page of any search engine for any keyword? chance are not many

That doesn't mean anything. For the 2390209th time. The extension does not matter.

Yeah, I heard that it didn't matter also, I just wanted to be sure before shelling out for a domain.
