Which web address should I be building links to: the channel address that shows the individual video on it or the individual video address? For example, the channel address with the specific video would be: http://www.youtube.com/user/ChannelN.../0/12345666ABC or the individual video address outside the channel which looks something like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p/a/u/0/12345666ABCY |

If there is only one video that you want to promote, links to the video page should be better. However, if you have a series of videos on the same topic that you want to draw traffic to, the the channel page might be a better option. I am of the view that it would be better to build links to the video page. If you videos are good, people will anyways look through your channel. Also, I have seen more videos than channel pages show up in regular search results which is another reason I think this would be the better option. |

Thank you for your post. I would be curious to hear others opinions on this. I believe the reason you may see less channels in the SERPs is b/c people are not building links to it and that is the only reason. However, I would like some confirmation on this as it seems to me you would prefer to direct people to your channel where they could click on your other videos rather than clicking on other people's videos that are on the side like with the individual video look? Just curious what works so everyone else please share your opinion. |

I'd build to both. Right now preparing to do just that. Got a channel with many videos. Will build backlinks to the videos as well as the channel itself. Who knows how important channel seo is for more videos exposure in the serps for example ...etc. P.S. I use a backlinks service, so not doing it manually. If you are doing it manually and it'd take much of your time, I'd suggest focusing only on the videos for now. |

It mostly depends on the nature of the channel and videos. For example, you will probably find a lot of backlinks to the channel for a popular television programme or musician. But if there was a viral video or a bunch of mostly unrelated videos in a channel, then there will most likely be backlinks to the individual video. |

My opinion is also to link to the video page directly.
