h1 - page title with primary keyword h2 - sub heading within the content with my primary keyword h3 - bottom of the page generally says "Filed under: keyword" h1, h2, etc., are simply heading tags and are generally used in a hierarchical structure. I wouldn't recommend overusing them, but they can be very powerful for on-page optimization when used properly. | |

What if page has got two h1's with different keywords? One is page title and another is just a keyword in the text.

Sometimes h1 is too big. Simple concept, really. And it's not a meta tag as some clown above says. Just more cargo-spam. This whole thread is just crapola. <h...> is all about size, but somehow it has morphed into nonsense. If a <h1> is too big, and many times it is, use a smaller one. Or even strong or bold. Same effect. If you cram a keyword each time into an <h1> tag, it looks kind of dumb. You should use <h1> if you can, but <h2> by itself does the same thing. You should only use one <h1>, but if you need 2 or more, who cares? It's not the friggin' end of the world. If people chose titles and used <h1> for readers as to what the article and page is really is about, it would have so much more effect in the long run. General, short, smart titles and h1 headings go a long way. Not keyword stuffing just to get some keyword in there. Be careful about what words you bold, strong, and put in <h...>. You don't want to over emphasize something and mix your site all up. Or put your self in a straitjacket. Paul |
