Tumblr for SEO:

Ive hardly seen (not seen) tumblr blogs not showing up in google search results. But im started to hearing Tumblr is gaining its momentum and its time to use tumblr blogs in our social media checklist. any ideas how to use tumblr blogs to get the most SEO and traffic benefits? Or it is just another place to include in the link wheel?

Thank you
Jai

Getting people to "reblog" your posts is key - every time it's reblogged with your link that's another link for you (and word is, as you noted, that it's def gaining momentum).

One of the big marketers (that everyone knows), I can't remember which offhand (maybe Ed Dale, Rich Schefren, Mike F, one of them...), recently did a post about how a Tumblr reblog got him ranking above a major retailer of the product he was blogging about because of the massive amount of links that had been generated from the reblogs.

I would certainly keep it on my checklist.

Tumblr is very keen and cautious with blogs for SEO purposes. They tend not only to ban your blog but also blacklist your IP as well. I used to have Tumblr blogs for some of my websites and then all of them got banned without notice. Content were unique. THe only problem is that the links were pointing to the same URL. Soon, my IP got banned. I can still access some f my remaining blogs but I couldn't sign-up for a new account. Geez!
