Page One of Google for many keywords, Now What?

So I got my site to page one of Google for 12 keywords that I thought to check, (who knows how many others) and they were all position 1 except one which is position 3.

The site now has 43,200 backlinks.

Now, what do I do.

I plan to continue the program that got me here that I re-started 2 weeks ago after posting on here but I was wondering if any experienced people on here had any advice.

Do I just wait for traffic?

Another question is, once you get to page one on several keywords, how long before you would expect to see a lot of traffic.

I am getting traffic and have a sign up rate of 75% right now, but that is because the traffic is so low.

If you are on page 1 and you are not getting traffic right now that probably means you are ranking for keyword that don't get much traffic. You need at least 1 month worth of stats to see what's going on and which keyword is bringing in the most traffic.

Raking in Page #1 is nothing if you got only 1000 Exact searches/Month and the Backlink quantity is nothing but remember the QUALITY of your back links and always look for how you can squeeze High Authoritative backlinks i mean such as .edu/.gov blog comment or profile back links.

Ummm, the idea is to have a plan before you get ranked no.1

But ok, you are number 1 for a ton of keywords, so you should be seeing traffic now. If you are not, perhaps your words do not get enough searches.

What I suggest is that you add the free "statcounter" to your site and see how people are finding you and what they are doing on your site and then optimize for that.

You are both correct. Let me add, the keywords get over 3 million searches a month, is highly competitive. I am currently number one in several that have over 4 million results when you Google it and the main keyword I am in position 3 out of over 1 billion results.

My backlinks include, 37 edu sites and about 123 other high ranking sites.

So having added that information now, how long do you think it will take for a lot more traffic?

You should have traffic now. And if you don't - even if they just bounce away, something is likely wrong with your stats if you are in position 1.

You are absolutely correct. I did(do) have a plan based on my newbie knowledge base.

I just thought that getting to page one of Google was like the best thing. I appreciate your advice and will check my stats to see where the traffic is coming from.

Look for the EXACT Searches/Month and Always look for how you can get a mixture of backlinks such as .edu/.gov and Do-Follow and No-Follow backlinks and exactly some web 2.0 links from blogger ,Squidoo , HubPages , Tumblr etc. and Submit you site to at least 100 social bookmarking site (Use Social Monkee) and you can explore other website backlinks using Open Site Explorer or Market Samurai.

I'm very glad I posted this rather than waiting and losing time, now I can go pick different keywords and do it all again.

Well, we learn by doing and making mistakes and re-doing.

I used the free back link checking tool at http://pingler.com

I used the backlink building suggested in the course I'm taking,
these I did myself, List Building, a free service that had a suggestion in one of the emails, Secrets To Building Your Own Money Making Machine and then one I got here at the forum Back Link Building
