Default SEO ranking success, next step conversion failure

Hey everyone Paul here. First of all I just want to say thanks to the warrior community. I've learned so much (slowly) for the past couple of months. I finally got the hang of backlinks, ranking my keywords, and gaining more traffic every day. The site that I'm working on is a "dating" or "how to date" niche. I was able to rank one keyword to number 3, and the local monthly searches for that keyword is 5,400. In addition I'm ranking 9 other keywords with 1,000 + local monthly searches and most of them are either at the bottom of page 1 or at the beginning of page 2 on Google.

It seems like the next bump that I have is conversion. I have adsense up, but I'm getting 1 clicks to none while utilizing CTR theme. And now I'm experimenting with clickbank by utilizing an (iframe?) plugin known as core conversion and 0 sales. I'm getting about 70-90 unique visitors every day. I just tried clickbank 2 days ago.

Should I panic, try something new? Or should I just let this site sit, eventually I'll get more clicks/sales and just make sure that my keywords are still moving up the ranks on Google?

Thanks everyone.

Look at your site from your visitors point of view.

If you were looking for stuff on how to date, would you want to be pitched or would you want to get more info?

Then deliver that!

So, 101 best dating tips (for instance) with the headline as an outline and then the "how to" below it. Split into one page per tip - so you'd need to write some decent stuff (but not necessarily all at once)

Then next page gives tip two, etc.

Links woven into the content - here's the sneaky ebook I found that actually wasn't full of BS, that kind of thing.

Too many sites - especially in dating - are too in your face. Dare to be different and be their friend rather than the guy trying to sell them the second they walk into your site.

Don't just give up on adsense like that. Try other themes, different color schemes / ad placements, only image ads...then only text ads.

I agree with lovboa...
There are many factors why you may not have a good adsense ctr. Some you have no control over some you can experiment with. For example, I would use seoquake to see the word density of you page that you are ranking for. Then I would adjust the content on that page (if needed) to be more targeted. I would also (and this is how I chose most of my key words) is take your main key word and plug it into the search bar at "wisegeek dot com" they have the best script I have ever seen for seeing what targeted adsense ads are available. If five or more targeted adsense ads show then most likely in time your site will do better and better with your ctr. If not many targeted ads show then you may have to find another monetization (like click bank or a cpa).

Don't go by the the ads you are seeing on your site. The reason for this is in most cases, (if you are using goog*e) there is a cookie set on your computer and relevant ads form previous searches that you have made well dilute what a viewer from elsewhere may see.

Hmm, You said that local monthly searches are over 5400 and you are ranking 3rd with this keyword. How come you get so less visitors. It should be higher!

I'm trying to figure that out. Trust me Mike, I do "exact" I look at it and it says 5,400. I always clear my browser/cookies, I even ask friends to type in the keyword just to see where it stands on Google. Well either way, in the end I just want to convert. And that's my biggest issue at the moment, which I'm sure I'll be able to solve, just like how SEO was my biggest issue at one point.
