Does this difference in text matter for on site SEO?

Wonder if anybody experimented with it or came across some info related to the following question.
If one wants to rank for "plumbing Detroit", for example, does it really matter whether you use "plumbing Detroit" in one sentence or split the two words in two different sentences: .... (plumbing. Detroit) .... The reason why I am asking is that it might be easier to come up with content when two words are separated by a period. Any thoughts. Thanks.

It absolutely matters it's called PROXIMITY. It also matters how many and how close your keywords appear to the start of a sentance, title tag, or paragraph.

The trick is to figure out what Google wants and that changes.

You won't hurt yourself by using both instances as long as you don't over do it.

One way to test these kinds of questions is in Google Search. Type in the first phrase, and see the results, then reverse it and see if it changes? Some words like and are omitted by Google. Sometimes the results are the same depending on niche. Google also will change for plurals.

If you want to see what they consider to be related keywords put a tilde ~ before the keyword and related keywords will be highlighted in the search results.

Learning to use the Advance features in Google search can really help you understand your SEO results.
