Hey Warriors, I think the most efficient way we can all learn to master internet marketing and SEO is to constantly try new things and document our attempts and failures. The more we can test as a community and report our progress, the quicker we will all become rich! This is why I am making a journal here as I progress through one of my tests. Here are the details: Test: Can Fiverr and an EMD (Exact Matching Domain) put a website in the top search engine rankings. If not, what are the results? The Subject: I am not going to give my exact keyword or domain away... (Or maybe I will later, IDK yet...) But here are some details you should know: 1. I bought the domain on June 19th of this year, and let it sit. Now it is 3 to 4 months old, so I think it has enough age to let me link-build at a decent pace. (Of course I wont take it too far.) Again, this is an EMD. 2. The search term only gets about 500-1000 searches a month. However, I can convert this niche to a CPA offer in which I have had great success. So my estimate is that if I rank number 1 for the keyword I will be adding another $200 per month of income to my portfolio. 3. Competition is pretty light. Most of the top ranking pages don't even have the exact search term in the title. Most also do not have more than 30 inbound links each (according to Yahoo!) 3. I will be documenting every step I take along the way, including my SERP's. Here are the basics of the strategy and gigs I will be implementing: Week 1 : Social bookmarking, directory submissions, and social media advertising. (I want to establish natural website growth.) Week 2 : More social bookmarking, throw in some blog comments. Week 3 : Purchase (through Fiverr) some high PR blogroll links. Week 4 : Purchase more social media gigs. Also purchase some forum profiles. Week 5 : More blog comments, add some more high PR blogroll links. Week 6 : High PR blogroll links, blog comments, forum posts. Week 7 - 8 : More of all of the above... we will see what is working. This should give us all a look into the effectiveness, (or lack of effectiveness) of Fiverr. I am sure I left some things out, so feel free to ask questions. Otherwise, you should subscribe to this thread if you are interested in seeing the results and participating with my discussion. BTW, current rank for keyword = not ranked |

Update Number 1 (10/10/11): I just bought two gigs. One was a social bookmarking gig that promised to deliver my link to 100 social bookmarking sites in the next week. The next was a gig that sent my message to a Twitter following of over 35,000 people. This was not to get traffic, but rather to prove my "social worth." This must be a metric G is now using to judge SERP's. Total Cost: $10 SERP of Main Keyword: Still Not Ranked |

Very nice attempt Larkive. However, just one point to share....I assume that your website is having pretty good unique content to bank upon...else I'll not be optimistic at all for any visible results. The other point is that SEO is always time consuming and I am sure you'll keep the patience and intensity for a considerable period. Even if it is not so competitive it will still take good time to get your rank. |

It's not a case study until it's done and results can be published. For now it's just another idea to use the same old linking methods to a keyword domain. It is what it is. Not useful yet. But I'll keep following if you can keep updating. Seems it could be useful. |

@Larkive I did not see where you added the article marketing into the mix. Will you not be using any blognetwork submissions or article directory submissions?. Will this strictly use Social Marketing? |

I have found a couple of Fiverr gigs that will run an article through Article Marketing Robot and other article submission programs. I am still debating which of these I am going to use, but I will probably work one in toward the end of this experiment. My whole goal is to just build the link profile through only Fiverr gigs. So basically whatever I can find there I will probably use at some point. Thanks for adding to the discussion Mike. If you have any suggestions or any more questions, please keep firing them out!

Update Number 2 (10/11/12) Current Rank For EMD Keyword: 76 Looks like I finally got ranked for my keyword. Don't know if this was luck or due to my first couple of Fiverr gigs. We will see more conclusive results as the weeks progress. Just bought another gig that promises to submit my website with description to over 250 online directories. Top rated seller. Should be legit. Total Cost: $15 |

Hi Larkive, good luck with your rankings. Maybe you may add to your strategy, some article marketing (submit to hundrends article directories or blog networks) and link wheel bulding ! When you get the report with the submitted articles.....take the links and "blast" them with social bookmarks hope it helps |

Sounds like a great case study! What can you say about your 'base' site itself in regards to how you've SEO'd it as naturally there's more to just the exact match keyword domain? Have you done a standard SEO sweep - the usual title matches, keyword density, first/last paragraph with keyword (in bold etc), sitemap, 5+ pages optimised content , is it a WP versus non-WP site etc? What's the competition like on the front page of Google for your keywords in addition to the low-backlinks, say from Firefox SEO plug-in e.g. PR, content size, ages etc? Can't wait to see the results as I think this very useful - will you track ranking in a simple XL graph/chart? I find doing that and tracking SERP useful as I plot date vs rank as a timeline and keep a dated log of 'what I did' to see how the graph (SERP) reacted! Good luck and keep up the great post! |

I wasn’t familiar with feverr so it took me a while to understand what it is that you are trying to do. So basically you try to find great $5 services that can promote your site (linkbuilding, directories submissions etc), right? It looks like you are gambling a bit.

Glad everyone is interested. I just checked the results and it dropped in the SERPS to 97 for my primary keyword. It is starting the Google dance. @backlinkninga - Thank you for your question, because I totally left that out. So to give everyone a little more info, here is the on site SEO information: -Exact matching domain. 5 pages, made on wordpress. -Keyword used in title tag and twice in the post, one of which is boldfaced. Competition actually got a little tougher with the latest index changes. Here are the PR's of the top 10: 5 4 1 0 2 4 - 5 3 2 However, none of these websites are optimized for my keyword, so I have a chance of outranking them simply with onsite SEO advantages. Going to buy some more gigs this weekend. I will update everyone when I do. |

This is an interesting study you are doing. I've done some fiverr linkbuilding with some success. Though not to the extent you are. I'm curious to see if you are able to get to the top and what the final cost is.

To answer your gambling question. Yes, I am gambling a bit here. There is a chance I will spend $100 on gigs and nothing will happen. But then at least I will know (and you will know) not to use Fiverr for these things. I think it is well worth my $100 investment for us all to know the results of certain gigs and Fiverr linkbuilding. Head over to Fiverr though and look through some of the gigs. It is pretty fun to browse.

Yeah that's what I am really interested in is seeing how much money I spend and what that correlates to. I'm thinking about spending $100 or so in the coming 2 months. This means 50 gigs. If you think about it, that should be a lot of value. For that, I can probably get: Initial Social Bookmarking My link tweeted to hundreds of thousands of people 10 PR 3-5 blogroll links 10s of thousands of blog comment links thousands of forum profile links hundreds of directory submissions a thousand edu links facebook statuses with my link sumbleupon/reddit votes much more... Actually, all that will probably only be like $40 or $50 now that i think of it. So it will be interested to see how this pans out. Once it is all done I will probably make a timeline and progress and put it into one new thread so we can all get a top line picture of what went down.

have you used market samurai to analyze SEO competition? and how is your more detailed onpage SEO strategy? because I assume if your onpage is good then you will ranks in top 30 easily for that kind of competition. well, keep trying and good luck anyway! |

I do have a question about the way you are handling the link afterward. Are you setting up through any pinging system or anything to help with indexing, or just leaving them alone for them index on their own. I think that it would also be helpful to know how many links you have on each update so that we will get an idea of what you are buying and what is being indexed. I look forward to hearing your results. |

Maybe you could try my Fiverr gig: I will share your site with my Facebook, Twitter, and StumbleUpon followers. You need a natural looking link profile including social signals. Plus it will drive a lot of traffic. I have over 50,000 Twitter followers on seven accounts, 2,700 Facebook friends, and over twenty followers on StumbleUpon who vote up all my shares, so the link appears on their profiles. I will also share your site with my Google Plus circles, and give you a Google Plus.

I've been using fiverr to rank my website. The results have been INCREDIBLE! In one month I registered a domain, made a website, and through the power of fiverr gigs it is now sitting #4 on Google! Oh, and did I mention the search term gets 8000 searches every month? I expect to be number one within another month of using fiverr! |

Nice to have one of these case studies, however I would be careful which sites a Fiverr gig might place your links on, as some have complained of being penalised

Have had a little experience with Fiverr and there is a lot of junk out there so be careful. I had a blog commenting service carried out on around 10 urls and afterwards I checked the backlinks and they were utter junk. Most of them originated from non-English sites with no relevancy what so ever. No wonder the blogspot site got removed just days after, flagged as spam |

Update Number 3 - 10/17/10 Current rank for primary keyword: 35 Not too bad at all. Jumped to page 3 over the weekend. To recap, all I have done is bought 3 gigs from Fiverr. One social bookmarking, one Twitter, and one directory submission. Today I am going to buy 3 high PR blogroll links. They will probably cost 5 dollars each on Fiverr. I will give you the exact cost and deliverable in 20 minutes after I buy them. |

Fiverr can help you a lot, or not! You can find scams and you can find incredible gigs, a real star gigs. I found one gig that moved my site a lot! I thinking about share it with my competition... **** it, here you have it: blboss's Public Profile Page This is awesome, but imho he should not sell this for 5$... |

Pablo - Wow what a gig! Thanks for sharing. I just bought that along with 3 blogroll links on different websites. The PR's were 5, 3, and 2. This means in a couple of days I should be adding several very highly authoritative links. Can't wait to see the results of these links on my ranking. Cost for the gigs I bought today: $20 Total cost for everything so far: $35 |

LOL...are you becoming a Fiverrr junkie? It's only been 7 days since you posted the case study and you are already at 8 gigs. At this rate by the 8th week you'd be at $320 ad spend. I consider myself inexperienced when it comes to linkbuilding but dont you need to give your links a little bit of time to mature and take effect. It almost seems that cuz Fiverr gigs are so easy that we are getting a little carried away with gig purchases and are detracting away a bit from the original backlink plan setforth in the OP. |

Did you submit your website to search engine : Google / Bing / Yahoo manually ? Did you do Press Release or Article Writing (these two counts the most). Backlinks that are not pinged mayn't be found by google, who are you buying from? maybe you bought backlinks from x member who by mistake get you in sandbox. Rememmber that panda is a little smarter now, the regular backlinks are not much powerful as it used to be because it doesn't grow. |

I follow this topic and looking forward for results. But I'm still confused: isn't it faster and cheaper to order some SEO service by Matt LaClear or another guy who can really save your time? Time = money and communication with all that gig provider can take much more time (which is really money) than if you just pay to one service provider. But of course, I understand that this is just a case study. Quote:

I just subscribed to this thread... I love Fiverr and I am looking forward to your results.... Will you be sharing the actual gigs you purchased?.. there are many similar gigs out there, some good, some bad... so if you are getting good ones, it would be helpful to know which ones you got... One thought I have.. you mentioned that your keyword should yield you $200 / mo for #1 spot.. if that is truely the case, may I suggest that if you invest 2-3 months of expected income, that your rate of return would still be incredible if you acheive your results.. so if you spend $400-$600 in fiverr gigs to get that #1 spot, but you make $2400 / year once you reach that spot.. your rate of return is like 400-600%!.. of course you risk losing $400 to $600, but even if you dont hit the #1 spot, I bet you would still at least make your money back with lower spots... |

Keep the updates coming. I have used Fiverr a little, but it was successful so I should probably use more, it's just the effort of finding the gigs that work that puts me off. So your post is very interesting.
