I'm new in SEO and I have read a few guides. I have a question all the time. I find this keyword red shoes has a 10,000 searches volume. I search "red shoes" in Google and "red shoes" has 1,000,000 SERPs. But I also find nobody use domain to SEO this keyword. All SERPs are pages. Should I SEO this keyword? No domain still means high competetion? Many guides I read are going to tell me that I shouldn't SEO this keyword. But I don't know why. Someone can explain it to me? Thank you |

It doesn't matter if there are a 50,000 listings or 1,000,000 listings. Either way your competition is just the first page. None of the rest matter. Whether there are domains or individual pages showing also plays no role in determining if the keyword is worthwhile. You still evaluate it the same way. | |

Agree with the comments above. I hear a lot of "low competition" because only 10,000 came up when I searched my keyword in quotes!!! Rubbish!! You need to analyse the pages on the first page as essentially these are the ones you need to beat. Plus if you have a site selling red shoes then yes you should go for it. It is all about getting a good ROI in this game. Work out the competition and if it is moderate and you have good monetization methods then go for it. As you are new don't go for anything too difficult. A good tool would be to download traffic travis (free version) and put the keyword in and it will give you an idea of the difficulty level. |
