This may be a dumb question but can I add someone else's site to my webmaster tools (by clicking "Add Site")? Or should I only add sites that have domain registered in my name? Should I create a seperate google account for each person I'm helping with SEO? If you have multiple clients do you add them all to your own google webmaster account or create a new account for them? |

You can add any domain you have FULL access too into your webmaster tools. They ask you to put a piece of code into the website, if you can do this, then you can add it to your webmasters tools. -- Jeff |

You must create a different account for all the clients, you can show them their site performance( you can tell them to go and seeinto the account), if you place some clients sites in only one accunt, then their will be a problem to you. Some client will be sensitive, they don‘t let you place any others site with thier. To your second question, you can add as many sites as you can(correct me if I am wrong) to your account whether you are the owner or not. If you can upload a file to a site then you can add that site to your account. If you can place a meta tag on the site then you can add that site to your account. |

So I guess a better question would be should I create a separate google account for each client? If the client knows nothing about analytics and wants me to do seo for them wouldn't it be more convenient to have all those types of clients under my account for easy access/viewing? And then clients that want more control create their own webmaster account for them? Also, if I claim a site as mine by adding code to html "verifying ownership, later would there be a problem if the client decides they want to have their own analytics account and I go into their webmaster tools and make them the owner? I don't want my webmaster/analytics to get banned or something because I'm "claiming ownership" on sites that aren't actually mine, even if the client is ok with it. Is it simply a matter of whoever's webmaster tools code is in the site will have access to it? |

Yes you can add websites, but I suggest 1 website in every webmaster.

If your clients want access to the webmaster tools then yes create an account for them. If not it would be pointless creating multiple google accounts for each site when you could easily mange them all in one account (and possibly against the google TOS). You will not get your account banned for adding lots of sites. |
