Default SEO Question

Hi, I have been reading everything for some time now and have finally come to the point of needing a question answered.

I have site that was originally built 5 years ago as a Vbulletin forum. It is a product review site with many credible original articles published as forum posts.

Just recently I created a front end to a Word Press platform. My goal is to migrate the reviews onto the WP platform.

Question: Would it be better to leave the review articles on the forum and create posts with an excerpt and a link to the original?

Or, would is be better to re-publish the reviews on Word Press and then do a redirect for the original review to the new one?

Confused yet?

Thanks,

Grizz

It depends. First of all I will check how much link juice review pages are receiving. Ideally I should keep the same URL but will change the CMS if required. But if these pages don't have enough link backs then I will do 301 from old to new pages. After seeing your site we can give you better suggestion. There is no harm in republishing them but make sure that you 301 each old page to appropriate new page. If possible, you need to contact webmasters to point link backs to new URLs.

Thanks, I was most concerned with a duplicate content penalty.

My primary fear would be to lose any positive indexing on the Vbulletin platform to the Wordpress Platform.

Here is the site in question: atvtorture.com

You'll notice that the Wordpress; now the reviews are here: atvtorture.com/forums/atv-torture-product-reviews

Obviously you'll need to append the rest of the URL as I do not have suffiecient privileges.

As said in the earlier post, I am looking to get the reviews from VB to WP but am wondering if that's really the best overall solution.

I feel you folks are the experts here on this matter.
