Default Newbie linking question

Hello Warriors,

I have a very newbie linking question. I looking at do some article marketing for my site. I see that some sites will only allow website link and others a keyword link and some allow both.

I think I've got the website link down, which is that it's putting in the website URL into the article can someone explain the keyword link.

Regards,

Mark

A keyword link is when the hyperlink says "your keyword", and that link goes to your website. This is much better for SEO then having a link that says "www.example.com".

keyword is the word you want to rank when searched in SE's. It is the word word being hyperlinked using the URL destination.

Try to check some member's signature in this forum like the one from my above, that's what they call hyperlinked.

if you type in a regular url like h t t p: / / w w w . b o d y b u i l d i n g _ b a s i c s . c om then it will show up underlined in a different color. http://www.bodybuilding-basics.com

That is "active" and if clicked it will take you to that site.

Now that url has descriptive qualities and keywords but its long and ugly so you will want to "mask" the url and put in "anchor text" Think of anchor text like this: When a ship puts down a heavy anchor the ship won't go anywhere. Well thats your goal, to build strong links with strong "anchor text" keywords so that your site will not go anywhere and will rank high in google and be around forever. You are saying "Hi this is me here and this is my fabulous website, we are here to stay because I know how to make great backlinks"

To mask the url and make sentences easy to read and to include your links in paragraphs etc you should make links that include this "anchor text"

So for the site above I would write This is my website about bodybuilding and building muscle

The red is the code you need to write in the body of your post
The magenta is the url of the page you are linking to
The green is your anchor text that should include carefully researched keywords for SEO and if included in a sentence should make sense and compel a user to click.

hey,
Keyword link benefits more than a website link because there are chances that the visitor will click on the keyword more than the whole website path.

Hi Mark,

The keyword link also called as the "anchortext link" is the type of link that Google mostly counts and its an effective link type for SEO.
