I was excited to see the new adsense account interface which is generally quite good. What i am still dissappointed about is the limited way in which we can use custom channels. At present these can only be set up according to ad block. I want to set up my channels in a way that i can group together pages based on subject. If i have a site with thouands of pages, and dozens of categories i want to create custom channels based on the categories. That way advertisers get the chance to bid on ad placement based on subject, which i would have thought makes alot more sense than this obsession of placing ads on the rectangle VS skyscraper etc. Not saying that isnt a factor, but seems to me they totally missed greater potential of allowing custom channels that can be made of a group of urls that the webmaster decides. What do you guys think? |

Not really sure what you are complaining about. You can already do what you are suggesting. Make your custom channels based on the ad blocks for the pages you want to group together. Am I missing something? |

He is saying that he has the same ad block on different pages and wants to see which page gets better results from that ad block. I'm at work so I can't check now but I'm pretty sure you can do that with analytics. |

You can already do what you are asking. But not all channels are targeted. You have to go through the rules and conditions of making a channel targeted. Adwords users do indeed search for topics and whole websites. What's an ad placement? How do I create one? - AdSense Help You have to know the difference between types of channels. You can even tell advertisers where their ad will appear on a page. It will require a little work on your part. Paul |

Lets say i have a site called animals.com and i am using a single theme for the whole site. The adsense blocks, lets say 3 per page, are coded into the theme. animals.com has a few thousand pages, a section on snakes, dogs, cats, monkeys etc. I want to be group together all my monkey page urls and present them as a custom channel to adwords bidders. However, because my adsense blocks are coded into the theme itself, i dont think there is a way to do this. If i was placing the adsense code manually for every single post, this might be possible, but as far as i can see, there is no way to do so if the adsense code is part of the theme. I can only choose the adsense block and state which urls i intend it to appear on. So if im using the same block for my whole site, which is a heck of alot easier than manually inserting adsense blocks on each single page, there is no way it can be done, because the adsense block in question appears on all pages, not just the monkey section, which would be of interest to monkey sellers. That's despite the fact that my content might be highly relevant and interesting to adwords advertisers. |
