Hi everyone, I would like to ask a question. I'm building lots of niche sites (AffiloBlueprint Style) and the way I've been doing it is by getting a keyword rich domain for the main keyword I'm targeting. I've just been told that getting a aged domain with high PR is also very good and that you can take a site that was on the topic of say golf and totally change the topic to whatever niche you like and you will still keep the authority and age and PR which will get you to the top of Google VERY QUICK. The only problem with buying aged domains is that you will not alway and very rarely be able to get a keyword rich domain. Does this matter? And which wins? Getting a keyword rich domain or getting a aged domain with PR? I look forward to your thoughts on this matter. Lee |

Aged Domain with PR will absolutely blow away a new domain with exact match. Almost no question about it. Just make sure your aged domain doesn't have a penalty on it.

Hi InitialEffort, Thanks what I was thinking. Just wanted to make sure as I'm new to SEO. The question is how much do you pay for a good one? Lee |

Its better that you register a new domain and try to include your keywords within the domain. Hope it helps!

Buying aged domains with pr is the best option but that domain should be related to your niche.

I would take an exact match domain over an aged domain with PR. If you have an aged domain with PR about Golf then that's not going to be a big advantage if you're trying to rank in the man boobs niche. Google is not stupid. However if you buy a QUALITY aged domain with PR in the Golf niche and build a site about golf then you will have an advantage over newer sites. This is from my experience of using both exact match domains and aged domains. Will

The age doesn't matter . It the quality of the backlinks. I have a domain from 2003 that has casino and gambling backlinks. It used to be PR4 , now its PR:0 and appears to be penalized. I had just posted this video from Matt Cutts in another thread ; |

Also what good are aged sites, which presumably you are buying aged sites for aged backlinks, and PR If the anchor text of the backlinks is totally unrelated You are trying to rank for Gadget discounts all the aged domain backlinks have anchor text for 1956 Corvette so what good does that do you? not much as a wise old man once said, google goes not rank SITES they rank pages relative to the kws being searched for If I am searching for Gadget discounts and you have a 5 yr old aged site with 100s of aged backlinks for 1956 Corvette Do you think Google ranks the aged site higher because of simply the fact its an older site? with a lot of mishmash \backlinks having nothing to do with the kws entered? Nope Google ranks sites based on kws searched and what is the PR and Anchor text of the backlinks for THAT KW , on these particular sites being pulled up among other factors of course |
