Adsense and Mininets

Does using adsense (with the same adsense account) across sites in a mininet defeat the purpose of the mininet?

I've searched for answers to this question here and on some SEO and online marketing sites/blogs, and many seem to think that there is no penalty from Google for doing so.

But I have to ask "how can that be?"
Google goes to a lot of trouble to make sure that its rankings aren't gamed and is aware that many out there are constantly trying to game them.

So, for example, if you go to all the effort of setting up a mininet with 50 or more sites on related topics, driving traffic to 2 money sites, and have meticulously linked (but not over-linked) these sites in your mininet, wouldn't it defeat the purpose of the mininet to put adsense ads on any more than just a few of your sites?
I mean for Google, its a no-brainer. They can just look at the value of the google_ad_client in the in the adsense code, and they know all of those site are run by the same person.

Has Anyone actually tested this with decent sized mininet?
